Always really loved music, figured "Why just listen to it if I could make it myself aswell?"

I need the release. Otherwise I would be a very angry pony.

Better, less dramatic answer: I really love playing and singing. I constantly re-write/arrange melodies in my head. Also I sing too much.

Metal.

Honestly? MAKE MONEY Survive. And enjoy doing so.

Music is something i've had as a sexual release hobby for a long time; something i enjoy doing, and hopefully other people can enjoy as well; moving to computer-aided music is simply a way of extensifying that hobby. It's something i've wanted to get into for such a long time, just never have.

ALSO IT'S ACTUALLY PRODUCTIVE

Learning things about music also provides a nice contrast to the rest of my day, in which I learn about things in school... ‽‽
/sigh my life is so boring :<

At least i have ponies...

Make albums.

Acquire more synthesizers.

Play live shows.

(repeat these first three infinitely)

Open for <favorite band that day> (frequently Depeche Mode, or Chromeo)

Sell awesome t-shirts that everypony wants.

Life comfortably, and have garage filled with every car I've ever wanted.

Yeah. :)

My main goal is to keep learning the tools and keep improving, hopefully getting more and more people to enjoy my music. I wouldn't say I'm looking beyond much more than that at this point.

To be able hang out with blink182, Periphery, and kse!

jk. Well, I'd love for that to happen but there are better things. I'd just want people to feel good and enjoy what I do, or atleast react. Hopefully people can relate to it and remember it since the first time they heard it. Maybe, go to a good music related college and learn how to produce and stuff. I'd love to start a band rather with great friends who are excellent and not some random stuck up guys who know how to play flawlessly. Friendship is more important for a great band, imo. I'm one who would also love to produce a full length album. I don't know whether or not I should be a drummer or a guitarist in the future. Playing songs a future band or me made on stage would be awesome. Just going insane like metal bands do, and then just chill like a motherbucker afterwards. I'd love to dick around backstage and pull pranks on other bands while touring! One more thing I'd want to do. Produce an album with the help of Adam Dutkiewicz. Music is a mystery I do not want to ever fucking solve!

I'm sleeping awake here. So...tired...

I always want to invoke fear when creating art for arts sake. But when creating for myself I tend to lean more towards more organized and colourful imagery and sounds.

But objectively I want to reach a certain degree of mastery when it comes to producing music, mainly so I can explore how music invokes feelings, all of them.

My goal with making music now is to learn to make better music.

My goal eventually is to make the world a better place. (Cheezy I know XD)

I want to make music that can give people joy, make them feel better in the worst of times.

I want to make music that heals people. Heals them emotionally, spiritually and psychically.

I want to make music that could stop a war, bring bliss to the suffering, and make life thrive.

>> Obviously I must be insane, since I want to learn to make music that has gifts traditionally reserved for gods. But every pony has dreams right?

To get better and faster.

I want to not have to stare at my keyboard for ten hours, come up with half a melody and have nothing else to show for it.

If I can get, like, one decent, full song done a week that's good enough for me.

What i want to achive and most important than anything is

Self-realization

i just love music so so so much, that if i don't ever get to make something beautiful enough for me to love i would feel very, very disappointed of myself, basically i want to make something with artistic value, it think it would make me feel like i did something good in my life that could (or couldnt, but anyways) last and be enjoyed by others, and even though i also like to draw, i prefer and enjoy music so much more than paintings. (gone off topic here).
I have this feeling when i love something this much, of wanting to create my own (original and creative!) version of it (it = music) and a lot of other things, but not that much). Something that i like about this idea, is that i could make the perfect "song" or something like that because i usually think like "oh, this sounds good but if it was more like this it would be perfect", same happens with videogames /)^3^(\
Despite self realization might sound selfish, if others get to enjoy my music, i would love that so so much =) So it is something i want to achieve.
it would remind me of how i felt when i listened to songs that i like, and it is always a joy to know you make someone else happy or enjoyably sad (if it is a sad song), and stuff, you know. ^^

other things that come along and wouldnt be bad at all are popularity, and maybe profit (as last, but who does not like money?)
cant thing of anything else at the moment ^^ but nothing that i want to achieve

EDIT: this doesnt really have to do with making music, but kind of does have to do: The MLR community is one of the best things ever about it =)

And probably no one will read such a WALL OF TEXT xD

Unless games are art too. Because if they are then music can go to hell.

but they are!
they are a complex combination of soundtracks, artistic 3d models + whatever awesome creativity the creator may have to make them enjoyable just as any art.
Even if it is only the last one, it is still greater creativity for others to enjoy, i would say they are art and a sport (depending on the game of course) :P

Mark my words! This music will open a hole in the universe! And that hole will be a path for those behind us! The dreams of those who've fallen! The hopes of those who'll follow! Those two sets of dreams weave together into a double helix! Drilling a path towards tomorrow! And that's H8! That's Seed!! My music is the music...that creates the heavens!!!

I want to have something I like to do, and can share with other people. I've played a couple live things, (Just a show or two over livestream to 3-4 people, nothing big) they're fun. I love them, amplifying that 3-4 by several zeroes would only intensify the awesome feeling. Though those where just live shows of playing somepony else's tracks, I want to make music of my own. I think I've learned quite a bit in a short time, though I don't really think I have any kind of merit or.... I want to say respect, but I'm not sure that's it.... I don't really think I have any kind of 'room-to-talk' so to speak, I guess, where music comes in. I mean, I see people here who have been doing music as long or longer than I have fucking existed, and that I just waltz in and say "Hi, I'm Nub #903409324. Respect me on the same level as every other artist as I do basically no work. Kthnx." seems.... wrong. I mean, I don't literally say that, I wouldn't dream of it, but on a dumbed down kind of level, that's essentially what has occurred. I want to be able to be respected, to have room to talk. If that makes sense.

Something else I want to achieve through music is to somehow manage to boost my self esteem from this point I am in where causing anybody any kind of inconvenience is akin to mortal sin and the shame I feel even posting on the forum is so astronomically catastrophic that I've gotten the point that I went so far as to delete posts earlier today because I was so ashamed to call myself a musician with the mediocre outputs that find their way from the depths of my Hardrive onto YouTube through hands seemingly not my own.

I kind of hijacked the thread there, sorry. I guess the only thing I'm sure of at this point is;

UnderpΩny wrote:

I know enough about making music to know that I know hardly anything about making music.

And that I want to keep.... not even necessarily making music, just 'Doing' something musical, would be able to keep me...... content.

Music for me is about giving.

I've never been able to do anything other than music well. Music is my thing, my jam. Sometimes I'll sit at my piano and just play for over an hour, going wherever the hell I want to. I did a full 40 minutes on the MLP theme the other day. That was fun.

I give my music to my friends. I've never been able to write or compose unles I had a goal that wasn't something to do with me. I write songs for my friends, and (most importantly) ponies. Music has made me feel some of the most powerful emotions or heightened others.

I just want to achieve an emotion. I want my music to use sound to really, deeply move people. And then I want to wrap it up with a nice bow and give it to the world.

I might sound immature for saying this, but I really, really don't want to have to go to college for some boring career (I'm in high school atm) and then spend the rest of my life in an office. I'm really not interested in any careers that AREN'T music related, because I only really like a few things other than music (vidya, ponies) and I know I'm not going to be able to get a job as a game tester or a pony or something :P
While I would love to end up famous for my music, I know that's a really long shot, and I would really be content in any career that is centered around music. Obviously money would be cool, but I would far rather be poor and be doing what I love than be a rich corporate dude in a suit.

I guess I want people to see my stuff, and reach a level of quality/big enough fanbase to the point where I can sell it. Kind of hard when all you're running is the demo version of FL Studio . . .

Sometimes the music I listen to feels so powerful in its color that I must force myself to hold back tears.

I see art defined as a method of communication that branches deep into the spiritual realm. When I hear a powerful piece, it shakes me up, because I feel I am listening to the inner torment within the composer who wrote the piece. Art overall I believe is a way a listener and/or viewer can get a glimpse into somebody else's life. The way they bow a string or pluck a guitar, it all plays a role in the overall emotions of a piece, which is one particular reason why I have trouble feeling the emotional content of an electronic piece.

I don't particularly care about money, or fame. My goal is to pour my soul into it, and let others get a glimpse into myself.

Alright. Here we go!

I want to make music because it's fun, gives me something to do, and lets me take a break from using different parts of my brain. So basically, I am studying to become a game programmer and that takes up more logical parts of my brain, then video games take up the moronic parts, then I just have the creative parts left really. And that is where I fit making music. To me, it gives me a sense of fun and completeness. Sure if I were to become famous and DJ live I would go with that and have SO MUCH FUN doing it.

*TL;DR* Overall, I just like making music. If I get an audience that's awesome and gives me even more joy.

Oh and friends. Making friends is nice! :D
