My rhythm guitars are quite heavy and my lead guitars have harmonizing melodies.

My stuff is orchestral, so to me, describing my flow is a little trickier
Most of my music starts of with a small little catchy tune that I think up of (mostly while I'm at work)
From there, I move to getting some kind of matching percussion beat. I mostly use whats called a Gran Casa percussion set, as it's the most fitting for my music...now if I had a good tycho drum sample set, I would die a happy man.
From there, it's just a weird process of trying to extend my song past more than 16 bars, which I tend to find harder than I would like. I also tend to elevate the intensity of my songs by raising the main tune by an octave.
But that's about it to get me started, obtain a small catchy tune then add some interesting percussion rhythm to it.

The only other thing to add to this is, the video below has numerous results of the first two steps for me.

Acoustic guitar:

I know nothing about musical theory aside from general scales and keys, but I tend to move around notes in chords as I'm playing them. It gives the chord a bit more depth. For example, if I'm playing A Major, I'll strum it naturally a couple times, then change the C# in the chord to a D and strum that, then to a B, then back to C#.

Electric guitar:

Eclectic powerchords and barre chords. 4-chord basics are thrown right out the window.

Solo guitar in general:
Step 1- Work out the key/scale
Step 2- IMPROVISE. EVERYTHING
Step 3- ????
Step 4- PROFIT
It ain't Brony Music without a blaring and intrusive airhorn sample.
