Alright guise, post your stories of how, when, what, or why you decided to take up music and or music production. Other interesting facts about whatever also welcome.
My story:
At the start of 2012 and a little earlier, I had myself an mp3 player, and had some of my favorite music on it. I really loved listening to music. I could for days, literally. Still can. But one day, while listening to DJAelxS and Skrillex, my brain woke and asked, "How do they make this music? I want to try! It sounds easy to make!" (of course I was really wrong). So one day, I googled: "How to make dubstep" and some sites popped up, and I found out about Cubase and Logic Pro. I did some more research, and tried to download Logic Pro (not saying how) onto the family PC, because I wasn't aware at the time that it was strictly for mac. I found out, and with my dreams crushed, tried for cubase. It wasn't working, because I'm not good at using that technique, so I asked my friends on memebase for help, and what I could do.
One of my friends, ParanoidPenguin, for those who recognize him, told me about LMMS. I downloaded it, all excited to start making some beats, and got confused at first, because I didn't know how to use LMMS. But my smarts pulled through and I learned the basics of LMMS by myself. Then I decided I needed to learn more, and went to youtube. There, I found perhaps one of my favorite tutorial making people in the world: LazerBlade. This guy was a demigod to me. He knew so much about LMMS. I used what I learned about LMMS from him, including downloading Synth1, which is also really amazing. Eventually, I got used to LMMS. I hadn't learned anything about EQing, distortion, amp, side-chain, gate, or anything, so I didn't know how to use the effects and stuff.
And then LMMS wasn't working out for me anymore. I still liked it and all, but it wasn't matching the criteria of what I wanted to make very easily. So I started checking out other DAWs (I still don't know what DAW stands for though), and found out about FL Studio, Ableton Live, Mixcraft, Reaper, and a few others. I found the FL Studio trial, and downloaded it. I instantly fell in love with it. I made a song on there, and got even more approval from my friends and subscribers. Then I decided that I should take a look at EQing, and other effects. I did a whole lot of video tutorials on those, not by lazerblade though. I sorta forgot about him at this point. Used those, and my friends and subscribers loved it even more. I then decided that I would download the ni massive demo, since I couldn't buy it (no money and all). Used that a bit, and the one friend I showed my samples to loved it. I didn't feel the intense drop beat that Knife Party and DJAlexS and other dubstep producers have though. So I asked on here, and people gave me really good answers, and I'm getting prepared to start my next song as of now.
First song published on February 13th, 2012 (only 9 days away from my birthday).
Interesting fact: I share the same name as ArtAttack (Sam), we're both the same age (most of the time, depending on when his bday is in comparison to mine. I think he's a few months older than me) And I also live in the same state as he does. Only about 4 hours away from him, roughly.
another fact: I played and took piano lessons from around kindergarten to 5th or 6th grade, then dropped them because I thought the piano was stupid xD /sigh, the good ol' days of immaturity
