HEY GUYS WHAT GOING-

Listen man, making music isn't about being popular. I consider making music to be two things: A hobby, or a passion. It's not something you use to get famous, fame from music happens at random and is extremely volatile, you cannot beg for views and then become popular, and even if you did, this would come up and be really bad PR.

Music is a part of you, it's something you express yourself with, you do it because you want the sound. You want a sick drop with wubs everywhere, You want a symphonic cresendo, You want a guitar solo, You want a kazoo. Your music should be Yours alone, and if you're lucky other people will like it, if not, enjoy Waffle House, you'll be there for years.

I make classical music, I've also been in this community for almost 10 months. You have both more subs, and views than me. But it doesnt matter to me because I have My music. I make my soft intros and big ends. Sure I'll get jealous of the one guy with 1 million subs, but that wont make me contour my style to others. Again, it happens at random. The most popular we have in Classical is Makkon, and he doesn't even want to be a music artist! He's an art god, music is his hobby and he does what he likes: Movie soundtracks. Atleast you make electronic music. You want popularity hard mode? Try some fucking classical. Sit there and make the instruments hundreds of years old sound interesting and try and get the modern person to listen to it. Music is serious business when you have a passion for it. You cant cheat, you'll get caught, and it'll be even harder then.

If you do have a record deal, then work on that. If you do preform for other people, make sure your heart is in that music, if it's sincere, they'll come back. Hell, if you're not lying you're already better off than most of us here.

We use this place to try new things and get better, not become popular, and I suggest you do the same.
Long time pianist and mediocrity extraordinaire.

wat

I'd say something more, but I'd be repeating others...I don't think anyone has said 'wat' yet!

So we’ll hunt you. Because you can take it. Because you’re not our hero.
You’re a silent guardian of music, a watchful protector of songs.

Huh. I hate to make us sound like a broken record, so I'll go with the simple "wat" again. Nobody in this thread's said "wat" yet! Okay, here I go!

I just noticed this topic. I stopped reading after the first sentence. This crap is ban-worthy.

And then I noticed Circuitfry's edit. Yay for Circuitfry to save the day!

Guys, guys, I think we scared him away. Sure, he might have been misdirected in his efforts; and sure, he might have come across as less than credible, but at the end of the day I think he's still part of the community. Not that I condone everything he's done, but he's making an effort to participate. Go easy on him.

And Ghost, I have to direct you to the MLR Music Guide (which, incidentally, is in this very Technique forum): viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1369

It would be very useful to read through them and have at least a passing understanding of them. It'll certainly improve your songs dramatically. Keep practicing, read up on tutorials at Sound On Sound (Multiple tutorials on almost anything you can imagine. There really isn't any reason you don't want to reason, especially for a EDMusician like you) or at DubstepForum or at FutureProducers.com. Honestly, there's a lot of information out there that you would be wise to heed.

Keep on practicing, incorporate new ideas and production methods in every single song, post on the forum, keep practicing, maybe get some members' skype names and chat with them one on one, more practicing, and play Team Fortress 2. If at the end of all that you STILL don't improve, I'll buy you a beer, capiche? (Hell, once you're actually producing professional music, I'll still buy you a drink or two).

>I think he's still part of the community

He said himself that he's not a brony, so this is just a random music forum he spammed his attention message to. He just slapped on a celestia picture to his song to get to EqD and get more views.

There comes a time when you've gotta be rough, and in the case of Ghost, being able to look at what you've said, see where you were wrong, and accept the harsh criticism and words as a result of it.

Perhaps I should refer people to his introductory post:
viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2333

Now, I can sympathize that he's had a rough time growing up, and that DJ-ing and music production is his way of coping with that, but the fact he made it his own post, and not part of the already designated venting thread we have established, it comes across as very attention seeking.

Back then he didn't say whether or not he is a brony, although he made a reference to the show in a context revolving around envy about the near-utopian nature of the show's world.

Since then he's made some informative posts about becoming a licensed DJ, and more information about the live performance world.

This post just brought out his true intentions, and to be quite honest, it hurts. Was his plan to utilize brony musicians to boost his popularity his plan all along? Nowhere does it state what we, as the musicians he would be using, would get out of it. Just simply what he would get out of it. It's akin to somebody getting into a community of top chefs and then asking them to make food for him to give to people and reap the compliments of such finely prepared dishes.

All I see is a struggling musician trying to buy his way to the top, without earning that spot through his own dedication and effort. As somebody who has earned every damn thing in his life and doesn't ask for handouts, this goes directly affront to my morals and ethics, and I will not have that filth infiltrate the community I love, and stab them in the back.

Ghost, if you're still reading this, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, but it's going to be a long, long way to rebuild that trust. I'd like to see you succeed in your goals, but only if you push hard to achieve those goals yourself.
