I'm pretty sure they told us we'd be getting feedback if we submitted before the original due date.
This is my entry for Rainbow and Rooted. It’s pretty much about twilight sparkle wanting Celestia to teach her everything she knows, and the power that she wields. I worked on this for over three months, and i was careful to use the background music in the samples to my advantage to add to the song instead of clash with it. I think I’ve done a good job!
Can I just say that this is fucking fantastic?
I'm not here anymore, but if you want you can still just call me Mr. BigBagelBoggle!
Here's my track, guys. They wanted something stylish, so: http://soundcloud.com/evan-mcardle/evdog-et-al-made-up-your-mind/s-3Sipc A lot of people contributed to this track (MetaJoker, RainbowJack, Automatic Jack, Jesse Carlson & Oliver Lacota) to give it that authentic feel, or "that SOUL!" that this style really needs. I'm proud of this track, and so are they.
Does anything seem out of place? I've entered the song already through the "Events" tab, but if there's something that urgently needs changing, I can update the file I've linked MLR to.
Swing ska?? I... I can skank to this. Oh the solos and oh the scat singing oh my I love you right now.
https://soundcloud.com/lyingpink/red-sky-at-night/s-oqSTg And here's my entry, finally finished -- and on private, since they aren't supposed to be public yet. If you think that's still too much, I'll take it down and upload an excerpt instead. (Of course, if anyone has any feedback that I'd have time to incorporate before the deadline...? )
Judging from the entries I've heard, I'm really looking forward to listening to all of the submissions once they're made public. Sounds like it's been a real mixed bag of entries, which is always fun. Plus, of course, finding out which ones make it onto the album!
Hm. I guess your options are replace some of the vocal lines with an instrumental line playing the same melody, record any remaining vocals yourself (if you can't sing you could always do a verse or two as spoken word, with the intended melody played on an instrument in the background), see if you can find yourself a vocalist here on MLR or through your own contacts, submit it as an instrumental, replace verses with duplicates of the existing ones or solos or shorten the track. Good luck :>

It's been good, everyone. Thanks for the ride.
^_^ Thanks a bunch! Yours is sounding nice too! Very much like a movie score. The later half may need a boost in volume by a decibel or two. It sounds (and the waveform looks) softer than the rest.

Thanks for the feedback. I quite wanted the second half to be a bit softer, but perhaps I've overdone it. I'll see if I can boost part of the later section and see if it works

Oh. This is tasty. I can't get it out of my head. Also, that "Discord" quote at 2:25. Genius, I say!

This is beautiful.
You can thank Jesse Carlson for that. I didn't intend for that to even be a part of the song, but I gave every person involved (except RainbowJack, the bassist, because he didn't want it) 18 seconds to go do whatever they wanted. At first, I wasn't sure about it, but in retrospect, I'm glad he added it in.
Here's an old preview of what I'm working on right now:
I submitted another track on 5/19, feedback would be nice, I don't have skype though. Anyway, it's kinda late now o°/) so I will be concentrating on the above track. I wish you guys inspired last minute jam sessions!

Nice feel on this one. I'd recommend that, if it doesn't do so later in the song, make sure you show that the song expresses its relation to ponies to some extent. Circuitfry has stated that they are predominantly preferring Pony tracks over Non-Pony. I personally think the chorus could do with some glitchy NaCP/SGaP pony vocals.
So is it ok to publish the full track on soundcloud or youtube now or by the deadline? I see some people doing that (not just teasers). I thought i remembered from previous events that these were supposed to be invisible in full to everyone except Cfry and the judges (like dropbox or mediafire only links) but I don't see much of practically any instructions in the first post. Are the rules posted off-site? I saw it requests a download link on the submission and i assume that's for a wav only (all that bandcamp will accept). If people give mp3's he's going to be hitting up a lot of people after to get them bandcamp rdy.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm currently fiddling with the pony samples. Thing is, my sampling work is still fucking blunt. SGaP? Ha, haha.
