I don't remember anything about feedback, but I don't think that the judges are going to critique all our songs. There must be over 150 songs submitted, why would they want to review all the songs?

Teach me your secrets - Flutterwhat

This is my entry for Rainbow and Rooted. It’s pretty much about twilight sparkle wanting Celestia to teach her everything she knows, and the power that she wields. I worked on this for over three months, and i was careful to use the background music in the samples to my advantage to add to the song instead of clash with it. I think I’ve done a good job!

I agree, that's beautiful. Love all of it, and the piano line before the drums/synthy chords comes in is especially stunning.

A lot of people contributed to this track (MetaJoker, RainbowJack, Automatic Jack, Jesse Carlson & Oliver Lacota) to give it that authentic feel, or "that SOUL!" that this style really needs. I'm proud of this track, and so are they.

Does anything seem out of place? I've entered the song already through the "Events" tab, but if there's something that urgently needs changing, I can update the file I've linked MLR to.

And here's my entry, finally finished -- and on private, since they aren't supposed to be public yet. If you think that's still too much, I'll take it down and upload an excerpt instead. (Of course, if anyone has any feedback that I'd have time to incorporate before the deadline...? )

Judging from the entries I've heard, I'm really looking forward to listening to all of the submissions once they're made public. Sounds like it's been a real mixed bag of entries, which is always fun. Plus, of course, finding out which ones make it onto the album!

Urgh.. Had my singer over today. We half did a verse and a chorus. I'm not gonna be able to finish the vocals on time Unfortunately the songs pretty built around having vocals as well.

What should I do? I'm still gonna submit the song, I've worked too hard/long not to, but should I cut it down a little? Take out unnecessarily longer parts, add lead guitar lines, etc? I'd drop a WIP of the long instrumental version, but I'm on my iPod and its late at night.

Hm. I guess your options are replace some of the vocal lines with an instrumental line playing the same melody, record any remaining vocals yourself (if you can't sing you could always do a verse or two as spoken word, with the intended melody played on an instrument in the background), see if you can find yourself a vocalist here on MLR or through your own contacts, submit it as an instrumental, replace verses with duplicates of the existing ones or solos or shorten the track. Yours is sounding nice too! Very much like a movie score. The later half may need a boost in volume by a decibel or two. It sounds (and the waveform looks) softer than the rest.

Thanks for the feedback. I quite wanted the second half to be a bit softer, but perhaps I've overdone it. I'll see if I can boost part of the later section and see if it works
