feedback would be much loved.

Looking for some feedback. I'll come back to this in like a week with fresh ideas; this is just what I was able to grind out today.
I can't stand writing house drumlines anymore so I went with a moombah/club rhythm. And I played around with formant filters lol.

Not sure about having a 100 bpm in the start either, I'm pretty sure Hmage can do it well, but it'll be a song that sticks out a lot from the rest.
v.lossity wrote:you could always just start it off with a standard 130 bpm house intro that segues into the 100 bpm section.
Nine Volt wrote:Like Strobe? Well what most people do with Strobe is take out the ambient style intro and start with the drum section, so how bout submitting a club mix (ie the part without the ambient intro and with a mixable intro) to this album then having the actual release feature the ambient intro?
Nine Volt wrote:Faxing Toronto, very clever reference (well, it's kinda obvious actually). Those chords seem a bit empty in the lower register, maybe copy the bassline down an octave? I like that arp, but it has no direction and I can't tell if that was intentional or not. Basically it sounds like something that came out of an arpeggiator. Also, using the same cymbal throughout it a bit boring, just a heads up. Those chords are rather repetitive by the end but that's about it.
I feel like Leaving's intro progressed too fast in the beginning. Everything kinda came in really quickly. Then you've got the piano, which I think you should play around with the velocities of the notes so it's not so static. I'm really liking the ambiance though, it's nice and the flute is a great touch. May I ask where you got the background rain samples from (I assume they're samples). When the beat drops the chords are a bit too quiet just at the very beginning. That clap is alright (not my kind of clap though), but that hat/ride thing is a bit too loud. Just a bit. It's really pretty good.
In my opinion Leaving is better, but I'm not sure how good it would be if you removed the intro; at the moment, that's why it's better.
Nine Volt wrote:If you're looking for a mau5y clap, try getting a 'snappier' one. Maybe layer with a snare or something.
I'll let you in on a secret of deadmau5:
For some of his songs (such as Soma), he recorded himself slapping his own ass then layered it with several more recordings of the same thing. Hey, if it works...

Hey, I thought he did that for The Veldt too...
Oh, and I'm probably gonna get in on this considering I missed the last one.

I have done nigh on any work for this album. This is 10 minutes tops worth of pissing around in Toxic Biohazard and playing.
I get reeeally bored at 3am.
