I didn't even know that album existed until high school, and when I found it, I decided it was one of the best albums I've ever heard (it's still on my top ten list).

0-10:
I listened to what was on the radio, I found nothing else.

10-16:
Found Pink Floyd and progressive rock. I only listened to rock / metal bands such as Pink Floyd, Rush, Queensryche, Dream Theater, Metallica, Megadeth, Death, Iron Maiden and Industrial music such as Nine Inch Nails and Whitehouse.

16-21: Started listening to more brutal metal, like death metal, grindcore, black metal, and mathcore. I was now quite fond of diverse electronic music, preferably Infected Mushroom, The Prodigy and various psytrance groups.

21-now: Love all kinds of EDM, Rock/Metal and Symphonic. I also started listening to Reggae, Ska and Chiptune music. Now, I am particularly fond of groups that play classical music combined with metal and EDM. So-called neoclassical music.

I can say that rap and sell-as-much-as-possible pop is the only music that I actually do not like.
I hate boybands and music only made for earning money.

I'm actually starting a band right now with some friends, Progressive Chiptune-Symphonic Metal with Dubstep and Psytrance influences. :ugeek:

This is uncannily close to me, at least if you compress it down into 18 years and take out the super brutal metal (I only ever really liked brutal metal with progressive/technical influences). I also didn't start liking EDM until ponies, which was like 16-17.

I like you :D

Birth - 15: Whatever Temporary DJ Daddy played at home or the one radio station that was playing during car rides (and Sonny Moore)

15: Discovered radio stations beyond the one my parents would be permanently tuned into in the car (and Sonny Moore)

16: Discovered more ways of hearing new music and got a bit obsessed with alternative rock and "indie" *psssh* Stumbled upon dubstep in a COD montage of all things...got me into electronic music (and Sonny Moore)

17+: Electronic gradually taking over; taken completely over. Get sick of (most) dubstep, start listening to more "melodically reliant" electronic music, oh and Sonny Moore.

The first music I started on was metal and rock (6th grade-9th grade). I was a was a huge metalhead and thought EDM was stupid. Then I got into soundtrack music (9th grade-11th grade). I didn't really listen to it on my own time at first, but during films I would think of how awesome the score was. Later on, I became a brony and started making shit music. Then I heard all the wonderful EDM and had a new-found appreciation for the genre (11th grade-present; graduating this year).

So pmuch:

Metal ---> Orchestral ---> EDM

Though I still prefer orchestral above all.

I went from a Poptard (6-8 y/o) to a Rocker (9 y/o) to a Metalhead (10-12 y/o; this goes as far as the dark depths of Heavy Metal, with Black Metal and Drone Metal (the shit is still creepy as buck everytime I listen to it)), and finally to an EDM-addict (13-... y/o). And I've always liked Jazz, Funk and Blues a bit, because of my dad who is a saxophonist. Never really has anything I made been influenced by what I listened to in the past.

I've actually rarely listened to anything else than EDM since I got addicted to it. Only on rare occasions have I listened to a Metal song (mainly thanks to a close friend).

I inherited my mum's taste in music - Stevie Nicks, Paul Simon, Meat Loaf, Bangles...
And then kind of hoarded tastes as I went, never really dropping anything, which means I tend to know like 2 artists in most genres and then someone asks me "so, do you know [fairly well-known artist in their field]" and I'm like no lel.
But um... pop when I was like 10-11, then classical stuff from about 15, jazz and metal from about 16, extreme metal from 17, indie, leftfield, folk, noise and ambient, pop (again) and weirder kinds of jazz/classical from about 18-19, gothy stuff and punk from around 19-20, edm/electronic/dance music/whatever you wanna call it from about 22, and country, ska, reggae, blues and game soundtracks... somewhere along the way. Hm. I guess I kind of started fairly vanilla, then rebelled against it and listened to the weirdest stuff I could find, and now I listen to both.
