so yeah I should probably get this out of the way:

despite 11.11.11 11:11 being cool and stuff, it's an incredibly terrible time for anyone on the right side of the Atlantic.

The reason compos end later on Friday nights than Saturday nights is because everypony radio holds a broadcast that includes interviewing misc brony musicians.
I didn't want to eat into that, but on second glance, that may be a better alternative to keeping Britain up til 6.

SO HERE'S THE [proposed] PLAN:
move the time back by TWO HOURS.
with exact numbers: 9PM, for both Friday and Saturday Compos.

the main problem is this:
it conflicts with Everypony Radio's interview segment on Friday!

so, what do to?

however, a few things:

So wait, you're moving ERS05 to the Saturday, or what? If you are, this is good - more time to actually do stuff. Having stuff done on the Friday seems a little intimidating. Plus I'll actually be able to attend it.

no, clarification:
I'd like to set the times back a bit for both compos:
ERS (including ERS05) would be at 9PM CST on Friday (two hours and 11 minutes earlier than it is currently set)
ZIQ would be at 9PM CST on Saturday (an hour early)

I'd like to change a few things. Or perhaps more accurately, I need to change a few things.
Here's what I'm looking at:

(quick reference for not-veteran: ZIQ = themed compo, ERS = episode response))

Option 1:
1. Change Episode Responces to a 12 hour compo (with the deadline at 9PM CST every Saturday, one hour before the current ZIQ time)
2. have week-long ZIQ compos running in parallel

the main problem here is: when would the sync for ZIQ be? (Sunday afternoon looks best, since that doesn't interfere with anything)

the secondary problem is: oh god, two compos that close together? (too much of a good thing?)

Option 1a:
same as Option 1, but without the ZIQ compo running in parallel.
this eliminates all of the ZIQ problems, but limits everything to a single, speed-compo.
if the episode is an uninspirational flop, then the compo for the week kind of collapses.


Option 2:
1. have a single compo each week, either ERS or ZIQ, depending on how musically inspirational this week's episode is.
2. sync would be on saturday

main problem here is: you would be listening to songs based on last week's episode...right after this week's episode aired.

(deciding whether to have an ERS or ZIQ should be pretty easy to determine after a sync. hypothetically.)

as much as I want to speed-write, option 2 sounds best.

I like option 1. If someone gets amazing inspiration from an episode, they can always just dump it straight into the ZIQ and disregard theme.

I would be extremely sad if ERS became a 12 or 24 hour compo, as I am usually still not able to access the episodes 12 hours after they air.

Also ERS > ZIQ forget anypony who disagrees.
