One thing I could suggest is that I've noticed a lot of progressive house songs will have cymbals on the down beat with the kick, maybe you could put them in at 0.38? also this is a preference (mainly cause I just learned) study up on nice build-ups. the drop is already great, but the build-up could be a lot more fun. Though simple build ups can just be a style of a song. BUT! if you have a second drop, make sure the build up to that one is bigger.
cheers!
Yeah, about the build-up.. the kick is sidechained to pretty much everything in the mix, and I made the build-up before adding the highpass filter. I guess I got lazy

I'll take a look at the cymbals you've mentioned though.. Just have to find some nice samples. My current open hat sample is a reversed swell <.<

Aye, I did. I'll analyze, and eventually EQ/replace the kick.. But just to ask, you asked whether it was sidechained or not because it might distort if it ISN'T sidechained (cause it might overlap the bass), right? I'm honestly really bad at this, so I'm not sure if sidechaining the kick can somehow make it muddy.. I don't see any reason for it to do so though..
EDIT: The kick sample is already compressed, so I suppose that's why it's getting muddy; got Maximus in the master mix.. Looks like I'll have to hunt down some proper samples in not too long.
