How to make this sound?

How do i make the first 00:14 seconds of this song?
please can it be as simple as possible, i am completly new at this, i am assuming i have to make the chip tune first, then add some echo filter?

Preferably using something like garage band

I don't know if Garage Band has VST support (probably does, idk though), but it sounds just like saw waves with some delay on them. Not just the plain saw waves of course, they were probably ran through a bandpass filter cutting off the low frequencies and some of the higher frequencies.

Apparently GarageBand doesn't offer effects plugin support either. I guess you are really new to this. Do you know what reverb and delay even are?

1. Turn oscillator to square wave/pulse wave with half PW
2. Apply slight delay.
3. Apply reverb.

Yes, i do know what reverb and delay are, i understand what i need to do, but i dont know which buttons to press

can you link me the VST anyway, i think i might be able to use my friends Mixcraft, i know that has VST support

It's not a specific synth, it can be a 3xosc for all the matter. It just needs to be able to play saw waves and square waves. As for the delay and reverb, there isn't a specific button you press and then suddenly it sounds amazing, you need to play around with the knobs or sliders, experiment with them. The delay is really short and sounds pretty quick. So increase the speed of the delay (or whatever the knob is labeled, probably labeled "Time" or something), and decrease the volume of the delay wet signal. For the reverb, it sounds like it has a medium tail, so increase the duration of the reverb, and the room size is medium as well, so probably around 50% room size.

Download Reaper, it's a free DAW that supports plugins. I've never used it but I'm sure it's better than Garage Band.

the delay is beat-sync'd to triplets. is also a stereo delay, bouncing from L to R, I think (and then maybe some more!).

EQ out some of those 'fuzzy' frequencies, maybe boost the highs a bit. To get it more plucky you should bring down the attack and the decay and sustain.

Switch it to square waves and make the delay a bit more subtle.

I did use square waves, delay, and reverb, but the real secret to that sound is the 'telephone' effect found in chiptunes, where you alternate between two or more notes in rapid succesion. The reason for this is the monophonic nature of old sound chips, and therefore the only way to make chords was to alternate the note really fast to simulate a chord.
On this track I'm just doing a quick, two note octave with a duplicate set at a lower volume to make for a manual delay (See the picture), which sounds a like slap-back (quick) delay.
