<pony><original><conceptual rock> Generous Twilight

Postby ChromeDash » 09 Feb 2013 10:59

This song I made a long while ago in Sibelius notation software, new and improved using Kontakt's fantastic sound library, is divided into two parts, the first part going by the original title "Generosity" and the second going by the name of "Twilight's end." Again, I plan on doing words when I'm not sick anymore. Well, tell me what you think! Please...

Oh yeah, also, I'm aware that the guitar sound in the beginning is really robotic, but it was the best one there was. Maybe when I get a good enough mic I'll just do the guitar parts myself.

Beyond the guitar being a little robotic, I found this song to be really great. One thing I noticed was that it seemed a little repetitive at times, but the variations in beats helped break it up enough that it wasn't off-putting. Once you put in vocals, I'm sure it will be much better in that regard.

During the piano interlude from 3:03 to 3:45, I would have liked to hear a few changes in the overall structure, and would recommend adding some lower notes. As a piano player, I felt that the piano was a little monotone and could have used a few deeper notes to break it up- perhaps an octave in the second and third octaves playing the tonic chord.

Despite that, I really liked this song. Good job.

Thanks, I like to know from people who actually play these instruments this sort of thing. I always try to think about these parts as "Can people actually play them?" But thanks for that input, being a percussionist, sometimes it's hard for me to envision somebody playing some of the things that I write, but to know that I may be making it too simple or boring is really beneficial to my perspective!

also, I'm thinking about adding some bass drops in that interlude to spruce it up, as well as vocode for the second half to give it a ton of depth. For now, I need to find a willing female singer for the first part.
