ALBUM IS NOW LIVE! GET IT HERE: http://derpyswings.bandcamp.com/album/derpys-wings-ii
Our society is built off of comfort. Everything from our education to our play time is normally planned out to make us feel the most comfortable with the layout. We don't usually fight this, just kind of accept it. After all, it's making us do our best with what's presented, so why go against it?
However, there are always those ones that love to step off the path and test their boundaries. Everything from venturing to new areas to breaking the foundations of what was previously built, these individuals dare challenge or typically uniform system. They are rebels, vigilantes, weird-o's... And they're also innovators, inventors, and geniuses.
This is the point of Derpy's Wings, and the second installation of Derpy's Wings as well. We are encouraging you to step outside of your comfort zone, to try new ideas, and create something that is wholly yours. Become the innovator, the one that breaks the boundaries that others have created.
What this album wants you to do is to expand your musical abilities. Whether that's using a new piece of software, a new genre, different DAW, different style, whatever you'd like. Just try something that you haven't tried before and step off that path that you've been crafting yourself.
We'd also like to encourage the lesser known artists to try their hand at this. One of the best ways to improve is to try as many things as possible. All artists are allowed, though.
Something new we're trying out as well is the use of tutors. Some of us obviously have a better grasp on some genres compared to others. Since we're all trying new things, if you need help on a specific subject, than attempt to contact one of our tutors, which you'll find near the bottom of this post. If you'd like to become a tutor, state it in a message or on this thread.
So, of course, you're wondering the rules. You can find them below~
1: To participate, message me or comment in this thread your Skype name. I will add you and then put you in the group chat. If you do not have Skype or cannot get it for some reason, than just tell me and I will make note of it. If you'd like to skip messaging me, just add me at tunersymphon and tell me you're part of the album. In case of other situations of contact, my email is [email protected].
2: We very strongly encourage you to make the track different from your usual. This project is meant to not only improve our musical skills but our views on other types of music.
3: Like last time, we'll strongly encourage the song to be pony-related. However, this time, it will be a bit more restricting on that. Since this is, of course, a pony album, doing a pony track will be expected, but not exactly required.
4: Smaller artists will usually have some advantage over bigger artists when we come down to deciding what songs we'll put on the album, but just because you're smaller doesn't mean you'll get on the album. Again, put your full effort into the song.
5: Collaborations are -also- encouraged. Working together is a great way to expand your skills.
6. If you'd like to get help from one of the album tutors, you can message them directly, if possible, or IM them on Skype. If you do not have their contact info, message me and I will give it to you.
7. Submissions will end on July 27th. The album will be released on August 10th. Make sure you get your songs in by then.
8. Uploading your song to Dropbox, Mediafire, or Soundcloud as a WAV and sending me the link would be the best for submission, although it isn't required. As long as we can get the song in a usable format, it'd be great.
If you have any suggestions on how to improve this project, please let us know. We're open to new ideas.
When the album is completed and posted, the album will be free. Like last time, donations will be given to autism research.
If you would like a picture of the logo, there are some different versions below (not embedded since they're EXTREMELY large.)

The title Derpy's Wings isn't just a title dedicated to one of the fandom's most beloved characters. It's a bit more than that. She's a background character, yes, yet she's one of the most known characters in the entire fanbase, ironically enough. Someone that sticks to the back of the scene still gets recognition, similar to how we want smaller artists to gain attention for their art. She's also known to have her signature crossed eyes, a symbol of being different from the rest. It's funny how this simple thing caught our attention. If a character like Derpy can be loved so much for being different, why can't we try to be different ourselves, even if it's in a different way? Also, her wings are important. Without them, she's still Derpy. However, her wings cause her to soar into the sky, pushing herself to the limits she has and then breaking them. Just like what we want you to do.
Push yourself and break those barriers.
