Welcoming Spring

Postby CaptainFluffatun » 19 Jan 2013 05:07

Winter Wrap-Up is coming! Or at least in a few months, which is why we are launching an album themed around the concept of the holiday/forced labor. Spring is a time of change, as well as saying goodbye to the past. Your task is to write a song illustrating your feelings on the subject.

There will be a WIP check-in on February sixteenth. Send your works-in-progress to [email protected]; I will relay to you the opinions of the same prelistening panel that will prelisten the final products.

Any donations will go to Your Siblings, mainly because I don't know many other charities.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

1) Submit in .wav format via http://www.box.com. Remember to submit the public version of the link.
2) Songs may be no longer than eight minutes. Quality not quantity.
3) Keep your track child-appropriate.

Submission title format: "Artist Name - Song Title"

Submit your final track to [email protected] by the end of March 16th. The album will release on March 20th - the first day of Spring.

FAQ

Q: Are collabs allowed?
A: Absolutely!

Q: What genre should I do?
A: Any genre is allowed. Pick one that you think will allow you to express exactly what you want.

Q: How many songs can I submit?
A: The more songs you try to cram into this amount of time, the more they will progressively start to sound bad. Stick to two songs maximum.

There will be quality control.

What are your opinions on releasing the track submitted independently, i.e. can we release it before the album is out or put up our own download link?

You are allowed to release the song on your youtube after the album has been released, but do not include your own download link. I will provide a download link for all people who make the album.

Remember: You can send in your works-in-progress to me at [email protected] on February 16th, and the prelistening panel will review them. After, I will return to you tips from them on how to improve your piece. That way, it can be top notch when you submit the final version on March 16th.

Other than the fact my piece is a little repetitive, I think it's been going good so far, I'll have to find a way to fix the progression though, no doubt.

I had thought that I'd have my amp back by now, but I'm don't, and I'm getting worried about meeting the deadline. The music shop has some delays with the repair. Not sure if I ought to pull out or not... The song is written, I just need to record it.

Do you have an audio interface? You could use a virtual amp like guitar rig. If that's not your thing (I've known instrumentalists who prefer recording their amp), then I'm sure you'll at least make the FINAL deadline, if not the WIP deadline. Godspeed, Sir.

I have an interface and a virtual amp, but the real amp sounds so much better. At least... it WOULD. If it FUNCTIONED. >.>

As long as sound quality isn't a factor in the WIP check in, I'll make it. I'll just be annoyed and complain the whole time.
