The Good News Thread

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

I realized why my music sounds so happy usually. It's because I've been pretty much exclusively been working in B or C Major. Switching to minor is really making my songs sound darker, not as dark as I'd like, but definitely darker. Not that I mind upbeat and energetic, just sometimes you want to make something different, you know?

(and yes, I know dark/bright is not dependent on minor/major, shutthefuckup)

Oh my gosh guys I am super nervous and paranoid about my job interview. I went in, and they had me fill out an in-store application (submitted online), then they interviewed me, and it felt like the shortest interview in the world, I swear. They asked me a few questions about if I participated in any after school activities, if I was still going school, what position I would want to work, and just... I don't even know, but they only asked about 2-4ish questions after that, mostly relating to my comfort working in various positions or something. I don't even know. The interview flew by. I could sense myself looking directly at the manager, I felt calm during the interview, I barely stuttered, if at all, and I feel like I did the best I could, and at the end of the interview, the manager thanked me, and said the other manager would call me (or something along those lines) and then we exchanged our goodbyes and I left. It wasn't until after the interview that I started to shake uncontrollably, and on the car ride back I was stuttering horribly, and when I got inside I took a big drink of juice. I am... SO paranoid about this.

Tied for first (senior division (that's 10th-12th grade)) in a piano composition competition. Second year in a row getting number one. The other winner somehow got away with making his piece written for piano and trombone, though it's not supposed to be permitted. Whatever though. Excited to go perform in February.

More good news:
Got a Marshall Guitar Amp for $100. Everything works except the effects (Reverb, Flanger, Chrous, Delay) shit. Although that's probably a good thing since I would use the effects too much and not actually make music (Its like getting a basic 2 channel 3EQ DJ mixer instead of a Pioneer DJM-909 as a starter).

Got an acoustic(R) Bass amp for $99 (It was $149 but the Asst. Manager gave me a discount so yay) and this thing is so fucking huge! Its like...damn. I was looking at a smaller one and then I got this and...fuck.

BEST PART!
I decided to come out of my shell (and actually got a Friday off work) and went to a DC Bronies meetup. It was sooo much fun being able to talk/bond to strangers. Sure it was all about ponies, but for that day I felt, "normal". Been talking/hanging out with them which is why, considering some bit of drama I see you guys probably haven't even noticed, you've not seen this Derpy Rainbow Dash ava not as often. Either way, I did a video/slideshow of it. Its about an hour long but if you want to still check it out, I've uploaded it:

Man for the next BronyCon, we should have a brief MyLittleRemix meetup and we all just improv for an hour.

Also yes, i'm game for an MLR meetup if I go to Bronycon.

I'm down for an MLR meetup, not sure if I wanna got to Bronycon though. Always struck me as being full of weird people who are far too obsessed with the show. I might still be going though, depends on if my friend is still willing considering it's all the way down the coast.

Not sure when, maybe in May or June, but I'm planning on having a meetup at my house (already spoke with mom and she's fine with it so long as I know who's all coming) but if there are any meetups before then, which I'm sure there will be, I'll PM ya and we can hang out during then.

Ha no I know what you mean, but I mean at any bronycon. Whether its at CloudCon this March or Bronycon in August, either or we'll eventually meet up.

OMG
OMG
OMG

I WORKED IT OUT
SUCCESS

Okay, so anyone who's been watching the TMI thread knows I've been avoiding clop (and etc.) in order to improve my appearance as currently my face looks like Mars (red and covered in craters). Turns out, it's completely unrelated to masturbation and I worked out what the solution actually was! Showering twice a day. Usually I'd shower in the afternoon/at night, but showering in the morning as well halved my pimples first time around, and then after a week of this, I have scars, but my face isn't puffy, I feel healthier and frankly, there's very few dimples now.

I'll get a before + after shot up, probably, but I swear to god this is seriously morale boosting, as my appearance is really the only thing holding me back majorly in life! This is the beginning of a new era! :D
I cannot make music at all.

I can mix very well. PM me if you want me to mix ANYTHING. However, college is sapping my spare time at the moment. MLR is a once-in-a-blue-moon thing.

Congratulations! I don't take showers daily or even close to that because it apparently dries out your skin and hair but perhaps you have a different type of skin than me because my skin is already super dry as it is. Like a flippin' turtle or something. Another thing that works if you suddenly explode or whatever is just putting honey on your face. That combined with an exfoliating cleanser is pretty good I guess.

In other news, I got this thingy in the mail and it is a APC20 so that means I can start making music now! :D

TOLD YOU IT WASN'T FAPPING :P

But no, that's great! My appearance is the only thing holding me back as well. It's not nearly as bad as you're making yours sound, but I'm still self conscious about the few little pimples on my cheeks :/
I'll try showering in the afternoon as well (I shower in the morning), see if it helps.

I shower the moment I get up and at about 8, after dinner.
Afternoon showers are off the set. Feels weird, but I'll do some experimentations with it to be sure.

Yeah, but I'm still going full Monk. Pornography of any kind just doesn't appeal and I don't think about sex as much as, say, when I was 14-15.

A few of the newest rough mixes for the new Sorrowseed album came in today. I'm really liking the direction it's going sound wise. I showed our producer Frost by Enslaved and Pure Holocaust by Immortal as reference points for a drum mix, and he worked that reverb heavy, late 80s to mid 90s sound in there perfectly. Sounds like something that actually did come out of 1992 production wise.

I took my math final today, and feel like I did poorly on it. My parents had been telling me that I need to bring my grade up, so naturally I was terrified to go home. Well, they got home and I told them how I did.

My mom proceeded to tell me that eventually there's going to be something I can't just overcome with ease. Everyone struggles with something.

huh.
