<8-Bit><Original> Gilda Shmup IV

Postby Patashu » 05 Jan 2013 01:35

(Gradius IV + Gilda) After bungling every old friendship she had, Gilda turns to the one thing that will set her soul at ease - piloting Vic Vipers, shooting cores and keeping Equestria safe from alien forces!

Today (Jan 5) is my Birthday, and I'm honoured to make and upload such an awesome song today :D My new year's resolution is to make more music!

I'm gonna be honest, I suck at 8-bit, so I appreciate everyone who uses Famitracker. It focuses on composition instead of cool synths, which I can support.

Either way, nice victoryful (Sweetie Belle: That's not a word!) track here. I remember playing Gradius when I was younger, and this is definitely reminiscent of it. There were some portions of the track that it seemed to stray from the overall feel, but it wasn't too far off. Nice job.
DAW: FL Studio 10, Ableton Live 8
Main VSTs: Harmor, Toxic Biohazard, FM8, Sylenth1, Nexus, Sytrus.
Main genres: Trance, Electro

I am used to the critique barrier being hard to cross between the 8-bit and non 8-bit world ;) But I like it because it means focusing on an entirely different set of techniques - rather than talking sound design you talk composition design.

And yeah, it's definitely a 'mixed mood' kind of feel, but I like it because it makes the piece feel not tense but exciting and adventurous - like you're going to work for your victory and praise. Thanks!
