Digital Sheet Music Maker?

I've got a project i'm working on, and i've written out a bunch of sheet music for it by hand, but it's hardly legible and there's a lot of work to be done on it, so I wanted to find free software or a website that I could use to rewrite and rework my sheet music digitally. The only place i've found so far is really impractical. Do any of you know where I could find something like that?

Hm, that's something that I would actually find quite useful too. I had a piano teacher a few years back that used a program to write down his pieces for me to practice on sheet music, and then he would print if off, just like what you want to do, but I don't know the name of the software or anything. Hopefully somebody will know the name of software that can do this it'll come in handy for me sooner or later

There's a lot of programs out there for free that are fully capable of music notation, however the quality of the programs is lacking. The most popular that I found was Finale Notepad and Musescore.

With notepad you're limited to 8 staves but its essentially the same as the full edition of finale. Musescore is bound to be more glitchy but its fully capable of any size of score composition. I guess it depends on what you need it for.

I missed my chance, but I'll third musescore. I use it every year for a local piano composition competition. I think it takes longer to make a rough draft though, so you should always try and do that bit by hand. Only your final draft and finished copies should be done electronically.

I used to use MuseScore. It's definitely what you'll want. Now I use Finale, which is certainly is better and necessary for professional quality.

If you're looking for something that's good quality, you'll probably have to go for a downloaded program and such, but if you're looking for some easy and simple stuff that you can write on with no downloading, I'd suggest Noteflight. It's Online, so you can just start it up after you make an account. I've used it a bunch myself, and it's a good program.
