what's your style?

I've been thinking for so long (5 minutes....) about how you'd all describe your musical styles, if you have a concrete style. I'd describe mine as, I make 2 or 3 synths, go to town with them and put other stuff in later. OKGOGOGO

Personal..
Maybe metaphoric.

I also tend to think of my music as awkward a lot of the time.

edit: I think it's important to note I'm a vocalist, production technique comes as needed. : S
To judge ones intellect seems ignorant in reality.

I make some kind of house, there are too many subgenres of house I don't know about so I'll call my style house.

Anything that's more... Liquid-esk Drum & Bass, I like it to be heavier sometimes than usual, but I definitely like smoother sounds/pads. I would do the same if it were any other genre as well. I'd like to think my inspiration of Camo & Krooked kind of put me in this style.

I really don't have a style. If you take a look at my soundcloud (or youtube, but there's less stuff there) you'll notice that my songs range in genre from hardstyle to neurofunk to experimental to weird, 90 BPM (not in double time either) dubstep to whatever.

I suppose I tend towards typically darker-styled musical genres but I usually end up making them kind of happy sounding somehow. I don't know why, it's not a conscious effort on my part.

So yeah, my genres are all over the board but tend to be typically dark and my style is quirky, semi-happy (recently, at least)

I write House, but that's been getting stale lately, so I've been dipping into some subgenres (microhouse, acid house, etc.)

I try to be happy in my music and end up with super-dark, so I'm like having the opposite problem you do

To the OP, my style solidifies itself more with each track I do, so I'll just throw a word out there for it: Soundtrack EDM

I like to mix elements of EDM sound design with elements of movie and game soundtracks, with a little bit of classical thrown in there (ex. I'm planning a canon for my next song).

I'm probably the elephant of the room, but classic rock/hard rock, maybe dabble with some heavier metals.

I haven't been producing/composing long enough to have a definition.
Of what little I have done so far though, I've tried not to stagnate. There is always more to try and more to learn. If I don't hit it all, I will at least try.

Mine's is still in development as well. As of right now though, its very reminiscent of d.notive (my favorite) and Hybrid, especially with my recent remix Dance Like You Know You Can. I don't necessarily stick out but I think that's for the best. I like it, it sounds decent, stick with it.

I try to make music that I would want to listen to. Because of this, my style is heavily influenced by whoever I happen to be listening to at the time I write it. I do try to have a style of my own, though, which usually involves putting pianos in everything.

It's weird

I'm known for Creepy soundscapes and ambient
I enjoy making Lo-Fi Owl City and deadmau5y trance house
But I'm really good at making minimal house and big beat

Fucking weird, and depends on what I'm doing. I'm pretty heavily influenced by Trials, the Presets, General Mumble. Lately, I've been stepping away from those three and heading more towards Mahito Yokota and Koji Kondo (who are the main two composers behind Super Mario Galaxy and LoZ: Skyward Sword), which is a completely different direction.

EDIT: And then, today, I went into the "fucking weird" direction again.

Its hard to really label what my style is. When I start working on music, I have no real idea of what I want, I just kind play around with it until I get something I kind of like and then start working in a direction. I just like playing with melody a lot and seeing what comes out the other end.

Our style is whatever we damn well want it to be (so pretty much loud, noisy, lo-fi and with a lack of care about good mixing).
