Osamu Sato Tribute Compilation

Postby Pewter Robot » 21 Dec 2012 22:09

Osamu Sato, creator of LSD and Eastern Mind, as well as their (absolutely amazing) soundtracks, has, according to what I've read and the activity on his YouTube and Soundcloud accounts, died two years ago. So we're going to make a compilation dedicated to him. You can either make an original track or remix one of his. I'm going with the latter, remixing Funky Solution from the LSD soundtrack.

The deadline is February 1st, 2013. If you don't know who Osamu is, just listen to his music and you will probably want to join in. The submissions do not have to be the same style of music as his, they just have to be made in memory of what he's done for video games and for music.
I always enjoy doing something until I have to.
Good thing I'm supposed to be doing stuff other than music.

Do you know where I could find stems or a midi to one of his tracks, preferably one from LSD?
If so then I'm probably in. If not then I may or may not do this.

I'm definitely down for this one. Soulful glitch-hop might be in order, me-thinks.

I don't think any stems or midi exist. I'm just bootlegging Funky Solution and adding my own beats, basslines, and sound effects on top of some samples from his music.

Bumping.
Also, what should we name the compilation? It should be something weird that he'd come up with, like Apple Dance or something like that.
And for the artwork I have an idea of printing out a picture of him, cutting it up, rearranging the pieces, and photographing it.

I've started working on my second song for the album, by the way.

Is anyone else interested in still doing this one?

So is the project just being abandoned, or what?

A little difficult to join an album when, as far as we know, the organiser's left the forum.

I'll come back if we go on with the compilation. I've been excited about this for a while and I really want to go through with finishing and releasing it. Sorry I'm so late to reply; I've forgotten about posting that here, and I've been distracted by guitar and an Animal Collective concert I'm going to. And I wasn't expecting anyone to pay attention to me.

But if you're willing to contribute to the album, I'll absolutely keep track of this thread and reply to anything posted here.

I won't be exactly like I was before, though. I only listen to and make really weird music now, so I think my dance days are over, at least for a while.

Not going to participate, mostly because I don't have the available time, but at least it's still going. Good luck!
