I should stop trolling around and start working working on my album and Rainbow&Rooted.

I hope I'm not too harsh....

+ Given that you're pumping out some electro, those are some innovative sounds. It's something that I rarely find in electro/house these days.
- On the second WIP, I'm not getting a lot of the deeper bass frequencies for a full spectrum. I don't know if you have a single bass instrument or a sine bass working underneath another waveform, but consider doing the latter, and then double the sine bass and set one of the lines an octave lower. The other tracks sound fine on this matter.
- I don't know how far into the track each of those WIPs are, but when you get to the high point of each track, don't be afraid to give them full depth. This something that electro producers tend to fear*, but is something melodic electro tracks probably need. Feel free to try arpeggiations in the wicked-high synths and counter-melodies in the mid range.

I hope I was able to help! Feel free to check out my track as well.

*Not that I'm accusing you, of course.

So far, the best thematic push I can think of is a melismatic Asian string solo alongside the Assassin's Creed dialogue. Anyone got better ideas?

Nice, man. The vocals remind me of "Night Cruise With Demons" by Aquadrop. The delay is too wet, though, and I can't understand what they're saying. Try sidechaining the delay to the dry audio track.

I'm still working on my debut album!

In fact, I'm very close to finishing. I have one of my favorite tracks from the upcoming EP below, but I wanted to ask some musicians who actually know what they are doing for some feedback first. I would totally appreciate the chance to further improve what I believe is my best track so far. It's supposed to be fake-bit or something; my friend suggested I make a song in this style.

luna.bit [WIP?]

Thanks so much! Also, it is really nice to be able to listen to what everyone else is working on. I only wish I knew more about production so I could give some helpful feedback once in a while. As soon as I start taking some college classes on music and stuff though, which isn't too far away, I'll be spreading the knowledge like crazy for sure. :3

Any samples in particular, or all of them? They're on separate mixer tracks, so if there are any particularly wet delay FX, I can scale them back.

Now this number, is getting to be SO ANNOYING.

Its going to be the second track on my hopefully upcoming debut album. I'm aiming for a Trance/Pop crossover (will be once I add vocals). I'm trying to get a dreamy sound out of the chorus but every time it just sounds too dark for me. You may notice that at 3:56 I tried to improve on the previous sound by spacing out the synths a bit, it now has plenty of bass but it sounds like there's a gap in the middle, which I then filled with strings. Still not satisfied as it over-complicates things (though it might just be acceptable for the ending).

My favourite section so far is the transition between the verse and the chorus (1:22 - 1:36). Don't plan on changing any currents instruments there.

Okay. I have a new plan.
1. Learn how to use all this damn software, including FL Studio and learning sound design so that I can utilize Massive properly.
2. Learn some stuff about composition so I can write some music that actually sounds nice.
3. Continue my guitar-related projects.
Yeah.
My goal is to be capable of making any kind of music that strikes my fancy, and do it well.

Just as a side note, Kryptage has a pretty good (basic) tutorial series for FL Studio here:

As for Massive, there's a ton of tutorials for it on YouTube; it's one of the main reasons I'm looking into the synth.

Tutorials are always awesome. It's pretty hard to make a tutorial that doesn't help someone in at least some small way, I think... and seems like a lot of people are trying to figure out this whole music thing on their own/with the help of the internet and things like tutorials, so the more the better, right?

I'd watch 'em.

Haha, I'd agree. Not that I have anything against dubstep artists or whatever, but there's already a million and 1 tutorials on how to make that sort of thing. I think your music is different enough from the usual stuff that tutorials on those sounds would be a lot more helpful, and mean a lot more.

Oh definitely, and that's a good point. I always appreciate when people take the time to explain that stuff instead of just turning knobs around, as you said.

It is. I especially notice this problem with the aforementioned "skrillex growl bass!1" type tutorials. I figure there's a lot of casual music makers who are just kinda making a track or 2 for the hell of it that don't really care about the inner workings.. Which is fair enough, I suppose, but it would be nice if more people did actually explain why twisting that knob makes that sweet sound.

Well, i'm going to try and get the basics of Massive down by reading through the manual, but after that I'd totally be interested in any kind of tutorial!

Good luck Sonarch! I wish I could help but I don't use Massive (shocking I know :3)

As for what I'm working on, this little thing here has been sitting in my projects folder and needs to be completed, though thankfully I think I'm nearly done. I just need feedback from others:

I feel like the kick is a bit loud in the beginning, but it's pretty good overall!
One question: Is that bit that comes in around six seconds meant to be the bassline, or is it a lead? Because if it's a bassline it kind of overpowers the rest of the track.

Working on my first multi-genre song. As in one genre for this part, another for the second, and another for the last. Already having some issues but that's the best part of this whole project: Gotta experiment, fail, then find out how to correct it. Awww yeah!

In the beginning it functions as a lead, during the 4-on-the-floor parts it functions as the bassline. Should I take it down in volume during that part or during the whole song?

Well, I think in the beginning, it's good for it to be prominent, but lower it when it's meant to be a bassline, because I can hear another melody going on, but it's hard to pick out underneath the bass unless you're really listening. Make the lead more prominent during those parts, so it feels less repetitive.

But take this with a grain of salt, as I've never made anything myself, so this is only advice based on my logic as I listen to the song.

Actually, input from a non-producer can be just as valuable, because producers tend to look at things and be like 'oh, add a compressor with short attack and long release to do x' or 'that synth would work better as a square', whereas non-producers tend to look at things and be like 'x sound doesn't sound very good' or 'x is too loud', so it both simplifies it and forces us to try and find out exactly what doesn't sound good or whatever

So thanks :3

I'm loving the French electro. Keep going with it and throw in some harmony by simply changing up the bass, as a lot of French house/electro goes.

I'm loving this thread. Had more of these interactions occurred instead of zero-bombing, I would've stayed on Newgrounds.

The electro needs mixing, but looks like that's already been pointed out.

The second one is too slow in my opinion.
