Does anybody know the first thing about writing a hymn?

Help me with the composition, I think I have 8.8/8.8 lyrics-- but it's kind of like the conflict and rehabilitation of NMM. (maybe not a Hearthswarming hymn?)
Eh... I'll look into it. I want to be heretical, but not too heretical, so writing them myself is probably out of the question.

But yeah, I'd love a few hymnal arrangements for me to slot lyrics into. Give me something unfamiliar but catchy, eh? Lots of inversions and unresolved sevenths until the last verse.
And then it will resolve in a fermada.

What's NMM?

Unresolved sevenths? That's not very hymn-like, but I can still do it. You may just want no authentic cadence until the end, is this also right?

Now, when you say "hymn-like" do you mean like a real, 1800's-style hymn, a Bach chorale, a renaissance-style piece or something else entirely?

Last question: do you have any music for this that you just want me to arrange, or would this be all new music? It just changes my mindset going into it.

And hey, I wanted to collab with you, anyway!

Okay... maybe not seventh chords, then. All of this theory talk (from me) is hot air, I'm a newfag in music theory.

I had to ask a music ed. major what a seventh chord is. I'm years ahead of my class.
Music theory is one of those classes where I sometimes read ahead in my book-- mostly when I want to do something specific for TB.
