Hi! This is a song I have been working on for some time now that I plan to include on my debut album The Element of Music EP. Certain parts of the song have given me trouble considering that most of the time I don't even know what I'm doing, (wat is a music?) but particularly the intro and outro seem a little off to me maybe. That's why I would really like some feedback and stuff, but I mean, don't we all?

I also don't even know if this is technically drumstep or not. If there's a better classification, I'd like to know about that too.

Thanks so much for listening!

Okay, I was brought here by the spam thread :3. I'm really no good at criticism in any form because I lack the technical knowledge, but I found it to be pretty enjoyable.

-If you ask me, the outro was good, it didn't seem awkward or anything, and the intro was pretty good too.

-If I had to criticize something, I would say that the drop (around 00.54) could stand to be a bit... heavier? Not sure if that's the right word. Certainly the energy level goes up after the drop, but I feel like more could be done with it. I'm reluctant to say that, since I have no useful advice for how you could improve it. Maybe someone else with some more know-how could give some advice on that?

-The sampling was done well, in my opinion.

Thank you! Yeah, I mostly just wanted an excuse to post that .gif in the spam thread because I thought it was funny, but at the same time I definitely didn't want this to be ignored. Hooray for killing two stones with one bird~

Anyway, I'm glad the intro and outro sound okay. Like I said, they gave me trouble and took the longest for me to figure out. Lots of uncertainty there.

As for the first drop, I see what you mean. Originally this song was dubstep before I changed the drum pattern and raised the bpm, and the first drop was slow. I'm thinking some of the higher synths in particular can be energized more, and now that I listen to it again, the bass could use a little more low end EQ as well, I think.

I'm definitely glad you gave your opinion though, because even without specific suggestions and all that, I know what to focus on now.

So, thanks again!

You are quite welcome sir :3

I know how you feel, starting and ending things is really hard for me. Like, even with writing a paper for school, intros and conclusions are the tough part.

And please post here or in the spam thread or something when you make changes to your song, I want to hear how you change it

I'll be sure to post an update here once I make some changes then. Hopefully it will change for the better!

Here's WIP number two. I tried a few things with the first drop, but most of the time it just didn't sound right, so I ended up only making some minor changes that I think went a long way in the end.

Also, I gave the mixing another evaluation, and I edited a few of the synths to make them sound better with new EQ work I did.

I'm fairly certain that this WIP has improved from the last, but of course, that might simply be wishful thinking on my part! Plus, my headphones broke, and my computer is causing all kinds of popping noises when I listen to anything, so I'm not in the best position to fine tune sounds right now unfortunately. Bleh.

I cannot pinpoint exactly why, but I do think it sounds better!

Yay! To be more specific about the change I made in the first drop, I increased the length of the first note and messed with the "velocity", I guess you call it, until it sounded right. Plus, I adjusted EQ and all that like I mentioned before.

I'm glad I was able to find a way to improve the song; I most certainly do not regret posting this here.
