Pile of Old CDs

Postby XXDarkShadow79XX » 04 Dec 2012 14:26

WARNING: This post is merely pointless exited rambling.

Today, my brother gave me a box full of his late 90s early 20s CDs. (He collected them at the time, I'm not sure if they are from a specific time period.) There's all kinds of early electronic music in there, like Groove Armada, Aphex Twin, The Chemical Brothers, and I'm pretty sure there's some REALLY early dubstep in there. He also had stuff like Moby, Radiohead, and I even see some Nine Inch Nails in the pile.

I just couldn't keep this awesome moment to myself, and I'll tell you guys if I find anything interesting or inspiring. Do you guys know of any early, underdeveloped electronic music?

Anything from around the 80's like Rick Astley. The majority of music made today has some form of electronic in it (white noise sweeps, autotune, etc...), and it's been that way for quite some time. I dare you to name off an artist that does not, whatsoever, use any electronic type things (like white noise sweeps or autotune as listed above. You know, effects and parts that require synthesizers of some type or electronics to make)

Heh, you're right Itroitnyah. I can't really think of any non-electronic using artists today. However, we need to remember that the term "electronic music" is literally any kind of music with electronic instruments or tools in it. What I'm talking about here is "Electronic dance music" Now obviously, electronic dance music has been around for quite a while, since around the late 60s-early 70s. The album I'm listening to now (Urbal Beats 2) is from 1998, so it's around the time electronic music started to develop.

The song I'm really loving right now is Wildchild - Renegade Master (Fatboy Slim Old Skool Mix)

That's pretty sweet
My goal is to be capable of making any kind of music that strikes my fancy, and do it well.
