(Apologies to Kyoga and Aussie, Neonstorm and I figured out the cutoff ourselves, but we are sure you will find it fair.)

So 1/3 of you got in! Awesome. Linked here is a google document holding all the judging information, including your scores, who got in, and the reviews we wrote. But first, read this.

JUST BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T GET IN/GOT A LOW SCORE OR BAD COMMENT DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE A BAD ARTIST. Nobody is a bad artist or producer; only inexperienced. The only quality that separates a well done song from a mediocre song is the amount of time an artist puts into learning new things and experimenting. Every piece of art is inherently flawed; there is always something to better oneself at, but perfection can never be achieved.

With that in mind, here are the scores!
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ARTISTS THAT GOT ACCEPTED TO SUBMIT THE SONG TO ME, PREFERABLY OVER SKYPE, BEFORE THE 10TH ENDS, OR YOUR SONG WILL NOT BE FEATURED ON THE ALBUM. I AM NOT HUNTING YOU DOWN.

Scores and Boards -

I guess I was wrong in thinking that SS was supposed to be stuff that you can space out to. Oh well. I'm not too mad, since it was wayyyyy out of my normal range anyway.

Congrats to the winners!

Huge thanks to senntenial for putting this all together and sticking to it all the way through!

I honestly did not except to make it on, my song is very experimental and I don't know how the judges could like it by only hearing it. The music itself is average and everything the judges said about it, the way it was written was a 'masterpiece' according to all those that have seen the project (which sadly doesn't account for anything). There was no delay plugins/vsts/effects used in the project, only two synths were used (nothing else) and the project stayed inside midi format. It can really only be appreciated when you play it back on a system with good stereo imaging (>6 feet), and with proper stereo imaging the problems with the 'theory' have much less impact.

If anyone can tell me what tempo is was written in I would be surprised

Thank you judges for giving up your time for the album!

Thanks to the judges, along with senntenial for running this contest.
I didn't make it on, but originally I wasn't even going to enter. I made my track in 3 hours on the last day, and am very happy with what I managed to do in that time.

Also, congrats to everyone who made it on, I cant wait to hear the album.

Okay, two things to note here.

First off, it doesn't look like my first entry, Sapphire, got judged. I'm not complaining or anything, I still got on the album yay. It's just, yeah, a shame I guess haha.

Also, considering the main complaint about my song was the length and mastering, I made a longer version without crazy reverb on it. And changed a pretty dissonant note in one of the chords. I don't know if you guys want to take a look at it?

Thanks a ton for organizing all this, to Senny and all the judges. You guys did a great job.

Congrats to all the winners! Then I'll be off now *flies away*

And just a reminder, since my song was Rejected and not perfect at all, I'll try to perfect it before it's officially released, I usually bail and never release anything when songs get thrown out but I'm letting this go on, I worked really hard in this despite some life events preventing me from doing anything, and I'm proud of it, unlike the toastbeards and the remix contest entries.

Edit: Maybe I could of got in if I left the solo, use DRUM SAMPLES, Set Velocities on Crashes and change the piano...hmm

Aussie wrote:Composition - 6 (man I'd give this a higher score if it wasn't for the obligatory pony vocals)

Obligatory? I'm totally okay with all the other critique the judges had, but I got a bone to pick with this one. Inserting pony in a song for the sake of inserting pony, or adding anything to the song without a reason really, is totally not in my nature. There is a story behind the song, and there is a reason those vocals are there. I don't disagree that they were kind of poorly implemented though

That was my only real issue with the judging. You guys did an EXCELLENT job organizing and judging these, and I'm ecstatic that I actually made it on (if only just barely). Thanks a bunch, guys. :)

Yay, I haz a happy nao. But yeah, glad to hear I've been accepted, especially since I spent such a long time making my track. Well done to all the others who got in too.

P.S. How do you pronounce my name, Aussie Asher? Any way you like.

P.P.S. How on earth did sci make his track so very quickly and also get the highest score?

He's a boss of the Badass Corporation.

Also, I would like to note that the quality of critique and variety of reviewers and their own tastes is top notch. I've never seen such good intention and great feedback for tracks before (mostly because I'm still relatively new to this process). I've been through a couple of other online "groups" that involved artistic presentations, and they were never this good with offering genuine constructive criticism. Thank you judges for taking the large amount of time I know this takes to carefully consider mine and everyone else's tracks. Looking forward to giving more effort for Soft Spectrum II :D

I'm so happy to hear that these critiques have benefited all of you - even if your track didn't make the cut, hopefully you were given enough information to better yourself as a producer. I'm astounded at the quality and diversity of our judges critiques, whatever I missed, Kyoga, Aussie, and Neonstorm were able to pick up, and vice versa.

I really hope to do an album like this again, even if it isn't necessarily chill, though I AM hoping for a Soft-Spectrum 2 sometime. But I like the idea of critiquing tracks like this; attempting to improve the community as a whole, and perhaps inspiring others as well.

To those who we gave low scores, we made sure to elaborate why I gave you that score - there is no use in giving a poor grade without pushing for improvement. So make sure you take a look at the notes in the previously stated document.

All said, I got most of the submissions! I'm still waiting on (GOT BOTH!)

Lastly, I'd like to point out an issue we had, so we can better the judging process in other albums. I'd like to set up a specified website to submit any further tracks, as there was a problem with some not being judged, in which I apologise to the fullest extent. It'll probably be on my domain at http://www.senntenial.com, so I'll set up a box there for future work.

I'd also like to pitch you guys an idea: On my website, I have many different instruments and patches that I gathered together for free download. I'd like to know if any of you would be interested in a community sampling project, in which we can assemble Kontakt instruments and samples to download for free.

I think Kyoga's got Chill down, but I'd like to host more of these compilations in the future that aren't the same genre.

Next up is Funk, look out for it. We're gonna have the same judging system with a better submission format, and perhaps some new/more judges.

I just want the focal point of these compilations I host to be giving helpful feedback.
