I've never heard a good sounding atonal dubstep bass. NEVER.

Two massive patches, one that I ran through vocodex and xbass4000 and another I highpassed and added an instance of hardcore to.

Ya'll can tell me what I did wrong now.
edit: Fixed some mixing issues. The sub is far more prominent now, and the arps sit better.

lower the volume a bit on higher pitched stuff though, it's bit too loud for me, pretty awesome stuff! :3
have some super random non-sense glitch-hop: https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/Public/u ... w=15fc091f

Oooh that's really nice! Needs some kind of melody/chords in my taste. I would imagine that sounding better if the drums would be snappier and more clear, maybe some sidechaining?

I was messing around with resampling and stuff and suddenly this happened. Might turn this into a complete song but i'm just out of inspiration

here is mine, its a little happy, a bit repetitive as well.

This is what an atonal bass ends up sounding like:

Horrible and empty.

In one hand, dont agree that all sound atonal, but I think It sounds badas as hell when they are (when they are used in a good way)
By the good way I mean used in the right context, the song is more based on rythm than melody.
Kinda like this
Im quite sure this is good atonal bass used in dubstep, if not I have no idea what the word good or atonal mean.
(thats the only song I know uses it, and I love it)

What do you think?
GhostXb wrote:@Chromatic Pony: Really like the low end, but the mid to high range is lacking. Maybe EQ that up, or maybe layer another synth on top of it? If your going to use it in a song, you can also layer some melodies or leads on it to make it sound more complete.
@Omegastick: Yeah the kick does need to be brought up a bit. Other then that I can't say much unless I was tinkering with it myself. Also, the introduction thread is in the community forum.

Also, I haven't been contributing to this thread much, even though I started it. That's because the last few weeks for me have been absolute hell, but the worst is behind so w00t! Back to making music!
