FL studio most expensive version, in a box :=)
Only thing im not to hapy with is the recording functions, for both midi and audio. But since I dont realy use those functions too often Im ok with it.

GarageBand! Am I the only one here who uses it? It's horible when It comes to realistic brass and strings, but otherwise It's really smooth and very powerful. I also recently picked up an instrument generator called zebralette (http://www.u-he.com/cms/zebralette).

FL studio makes the most sense when you use it with multiple screens. Then the window policing is no longer a hassle. Also it looks really cool, like you're in Minority Report and are about to do some crazy hacker stuff.

For beats and such I use FL Studio. It's a nice little program that, even now, I'm still only scratching the surface of what this powerhouse can do. (I experimented with some EQing yesterday for some more powerful metal drums). That said, I'd love to see how Logic or Cubase stacks up (But I'm not made of cash, and if I was, I'd get more instruments first)

Speaking of instruments, I use a mix of Audacity, Adobe Audition (Vocals), and Reaper/Riffworks for guitars and such.

I use Reaper.

It does everything that I need for a price that's hard to beat. </poet> 8-)
It's a little fiddly to program MIDI, but I only have limited need for it anyway.

I started making music with FL Studio, but this program was too complicated to me. It needs a lot of organization moments, such as mixer routing (and something else I can't recollect) which was very annoying and I started searching for alternative. I chose Cubase and in my opinion it's way better than FL at all; you need just learn basics and it will be a perfect solution for making music with maximal productivity. I worked with Cubase... for 2 months, but when I started making huge projects with big number of MIDI tracks, it started terribly lagging (With ASIO4All driver).
Well, then I switched to Ableton Live, which was way suitable for my computer.

!!!
FL was to complicated!?!? :o
I use more or less only FL and I see FL as a super easy to use tool with a shitload of functions... I dont see how anything could be made much simpler...
Anyway, you are entitled to your own opinion... but I do not agree with it.

WELLLLLLL...

I didn't say Mixcraft was on the same LEVEL laik gawed.
Lemme rephrase
Mixcraft and Dr.Drum are the easiest DAWs, but mixcraft sux so that seems legit to say that DR.DRUM IS THE HIGHEST OF ALL.
You automate with a button on dr.drumnigguahs while in mixcraft, you have to press like 3 buttons for a triangle automation... fak mang too manyu buttons to press.

Most people will say that the DAW doesn't matter, as long as you know your way around. These people are liars. Ableton is the best DAW. It's incredibly simple and convenient. You can do many things in a matter of seconds, leaving a lot of room for creativity. When I switched to Ableton, I started improving very rapidly the second I opened it up. :D
I always enjoy doing something until I have to.
Good thing I'm supposed to be doing stuff other than music.
