In celebration of my 0xFF post, I will show you some of my so-called "equipment."

So, what lies in the mysterious collection of Circuitfry's equipment? Are they all as truly broken as he says? You will find out the true assortment of myths and fables from facts and evidence tonight.

Image 1: The amplifier is awesome, too bad the cord is shorter than my arm.

Image 2: I'm really proud and happy with choosing this guitar, my iAXE393. It's undoubtedly the best thing I have. USB port! I wish their instructions were better, but I can just plug n play in Garageband.

Image 4: What the fuck happened to these headphones? I don't know. Turtle Beaches, man, comfy but shit.

Image 5: This is the best I can do. Today is not my best day. This laptop does indeed have broken monitor output and the AC adapter is also shit. I pretty much use it blindly. In all seriousness, I have another laptop, but because its mounted camera is the only one I have, I cannot take a picture of it.

Image 6: The other best thing I have this wicked amazing speaker set that BM bought me. That guy is the best friend ever.

And no, I don't actually use my theremin there. It wouldn't work. I have a stand for it but it didn't fit in the photo. It's just a box covered in black construction paper, nothing too splendid.

Well I made it so that Guitarrig takes input from Midi, and just played it straight from my midi keyboard.

it's an akai MPK-25.
it certainly looks better than the korg nanokey, sturdier and better-made, but as I only have akai LPD8, I can only tell from the reviews that it's NOT a full-on super-duper keyboard with full-awesome quality keys, so if you are looking for something that anyhow resembles piano, I don't think it's the best choice
but if you are looking for cheap keys, that's it

It's not for me - it's for my father (early Xmas shopping). I built him a computer over the summer and put Reason on it for him, because that's what he wanted. The only thing he lacks now is a controller.

Being a man of limited space (living in a 1 bedroom apartment, with a very small work area), I want to get him a very very small controller. The Nano Key was high on my list, but this one looks a bit more industrial/heavy duty.

I think he wants something by M-Audio, but I don't think he has the space, not even for a small one. Something about the size of a computer keyboard would be perfect.

If it's velocity sensitive, has a couple of octaves, and won't break immediately, I'm sure he'll be a happy camper.

You're right on the money, it's an AKAI LPK 25.

I have the akai lpk25 aswell.
Both the akai and the korg arent serious keyboards but the akai is way better than the korg. The korg's keys are like the keys you'd find on a laptop keyboard,

dont get the korg nanokeys.

I'd suggest getting the Akai MPK Mini. I've got it -- it's about the same size as the LPK, but it includes knobs that you can set to control things in the programs or in the synths you're using, plus eight pads for percussion and a bunch of other goodies. If you get it on Amazon, it's literally only $5 more than the LPK.

It's velocity-sensitive (though not as much as I'd like, but it's a hell of a lot better than the Korg), two-octave with octave up/down buttons, has an arpeggiator and a little sustain button. It's got a USB out, so no MIDI outs unless you find a way to convert that USB to one. Overall, I really like mine.

read as "if you press the pad, you get 1-2 velocity, if you press the pad hard you get 10 velocity

if you hit the pad lightly you get 50, and if you hit the pad hard, you ALWAYS get 127"

the knobs are fair enough, but for the portability's sake were shrunk down, and take some time to get used to
