My plan there is to basically just record piano (if my keyboard doesn't sound like shit) and the vocals, then start messing around with effects on them. Probably just adding reverb and strange panning. Finally, I would add some chill pads, white noise sweeps, strange sound effects, light percussion, and some other cool stuff. Then some mixing and mastering.

If I can find time to dedicate to it and practice singing until my vocals sound decent enough, I could finish the whole thing in less than two weeks. What I really hope to do is just get it done in small chunks scattered across this month so that I don't have to rush it at the end, but don't have to cancel my other projects.

I've finished my tune now. Would anypony be willing to give it a listen before I submit it? I just want to be sure that it's good.

Hey guys! I'm just having some trouble figuring out a good way to get the money to charity, anyone have experiences in this sort of thing? If worst comes to worst it can just be a free album.

Just wondering... if there is a skype group for this album (if this album is still a reality), then I believe Warbalist and I should be present on it. I won't publish his skype address/name just in case he doesn't want everyone to see it, but here's mine.

matthewnmusic

Also, when someone tries adding me without introducing himself (I really dislike the automatic skype invitation messages), then by all means don't be surprised I don't accept those. I've had some very random (skype names didn't tell me anything about them) people inviting me in about 9 different languages.

Sorry, I'm just clarifiying. Do we submit the tracks before the due date? It's just that I submitted mine to Sentennial and he said (quote) 'I only accept submissions on the submission dates'. Which is correct? Before the date or on the date? I just don't want to be left out of a chance, is all. And I'm sure nobody else does either.

The chord structure works well, although I'd personally mix things up a little bit (repeating the same chords over and over can get a bit wearisome), but there are no problems with the harmony. The drum pattern is good, especially the fills to lead up to the main beat, but they seem a little too dry to me. A bit of reverb on the snare could really bring some space into the mix, although I would actually use a different snare (the 909 snare is pretty overused). I really like the sweeping synth sound on the backbeat, keep that as it is. The piano is also a little dry, a splash of reverb could do wonders with that. The sub bass is, well, bassy. Just as it should be. It works alright just by following the root note of each chord, but I think it would be much more interesting if it had it's own simple melody. That part isn't essential, it is your track after all and no-one else's, but it would just be good to spice things up a little. Finally, the whole mix is pretty heavily compressed. It would sound much more natural if there was a bit of headroom and more dynamic contrast.

So, all in all, there's a bit to work on but it's a promising start. Hopefully it'll be quite the tune when complete :)

Apologies for some miscommunication! In the original post I said by November 1st.
I had actually worked out before that tracks be submitted from November 1st - November 4th (If you needed extra time, any time before the 10th or until we have completely decided what goes on the album)

I know it's a tad confusing, so ask if you have any questions.
Tl;Dr, I DO NOT want your submissions now, please submit them from Nov 1 - Nov 4.

When people gave me tracks for the TLK albums I would put them into a folder on my computer as I got them, this allows people to hand them in at the most convenient time for their own schedules. I don't mean to be rude but you telling us we can't hand in our songs before then is the wrong way to host an album IMO, I strongly recommend changing that. It is your album so its your choice in the end, I mean no disrespect.

Knowing myself, I'll have lost every single song by the time judging comes around. Giving people a 4 day deadline allows flexibility for their schedules while making it not so hectic for me :)
