My 2 bits on trap:

Not bad. I usually get bored easily by traditional hiphop or RnB. This seems like a way of making it more interesting to listen to. So I like it.

As for why people won't produce it:

Probably mood. Example: Haven't you noticed how a lot of the "dark" songs in this fandom don't really sound that dark at all? That's because they want the mood to fit the theme of the song.

Personally, I would like to see some bronies get really creative and start going all-out with their music instead of staying centric around one mood, style, sound, etc. In any genre, not just trap. There really isn't much in terms of death metal with ponies (btw, metalcore is not death metal)...

Well, like I said, maybe trap doesn't have to be dark. Still, I appreciate your opinion. Thanks for being one of the only people to not kick trap in the balls unnecessarily.

You're absolutely right. Why don't we just change the genre slightly to be less dark and let it evolve more as more producers get into it? We might not wind up with trap music in the end, but could possibly create something better.

I personally don't believe in genres "dying". Hiphop has just evolved.

Besides, just because it took on a newer form doesn't mean the "real" hiphop is gone.

Judging by what I've listened to in this thread, not a huge fan. But I think it has potential as a genre.

I'll just wait 'til someone thinks outside the box and does something cool with it. Until then, meh.

We could have melodic or ambient trap; we have those for dubstep. Instead of just shooting this genre down we can turn it into something we can all appreciate! ;D

I'll take the challenge and thanks to the sample pack, should be able to crank something quick out for demonstration and experimentation purposes.

Well right now Trap music doesn't sound all that great because genres are like actual producers; Obviously a brand new music producer wont be able to create gold on their first try, it'll sound like crap/lazy. Time needs to pass, more experiments here and there needs to be done, and of course dedication. I've said before that trap is a bit too dark for something happy and light-heart like MLP, but since you did mention melodic....which is something I totally jump on, there's a chance this dark mood can have a optimistic mood.

how bout no i never said it was easy hell dubstep is terrible to listen to yet its a very hard genre to make I once spent 2 hours on a drop A SINGLE DROP.

I'm sorry but anytime I come by this thread and I see Trap music i just imagine an androgynous guy dressed in some chick's panties. Is there any reason why its called Trap music other than than the T is added onto rap?

Incidentally has anyone checked out Grime froom back in the day or does it need to be new to relevant? This seems like something that might be hot for a year like bassline, fidget house, future garage, uk funky, wonky, and purple sound, etc and no one is doing brony versions of those. Sorry not trying to be another person to complain in this thread but i'm just wondering what the appeal is to you and just how far you've looked into other genres that could equally appear new even if they aren't "current".

I've got to agree. I've never payed too much attention to rap and hip-hop for exactly those reasons, however, in recent months, I've discovered a few artists that are making the genre worth-while to me.

I thought this thread is about dance electronic post-skrillex trap, which is all about deep bass drums and high-pitched synths.
