Why doesn't anyone make Trap music?

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

Not bad. I usually get bored easily by traditional hiphop or RnB. This seems like a way of making it more interesting to listen to. So I like it.

As for why people won't produce it:

Probably mood. Example: Haven't you noticed how a lot of the "dark" songs in this fandom don't really sound that dark at all? That's because they want the mood to fit the theme of the song.

Personally, I would like to see some bronies get really creative and start going all-out with their music instead of staying centric around one mood, style, sound, etc. In any genre, not just trap. There really isn't much in terms of death metal with ponies (btw, metalcore is not death metal)...

Well, like I said, maybe trap doesn't have to be dark. Still, I appreciate your opinion. Thanks for being one of the only people to not kick trap in the balls unnecessarily.

You're absolutely right. Why don't we just change the genre slightly to be less dark and let it evolve more as more producers get into it? We might not wind up with trap music in the end, but could possibly create something better.

I personally don't believe in genres "dying". Hiphop has just evolved.

Besides, just because it took on a newer form doesn't mean the "real" hiphop is gone.

If real hiphop had truly died, you would not have even been able to find the examples of real hiphop. *le logic*

Quoting Lil B as a killer of hip hop is like quoting Tenacious D as a killer of metal. I don't think you're supposed to take any of the people you listed seriously.

To present my point more clearly, here is one of my favorite producers explaining where Lil B stands:

Judging by what I've listened to in this thread, not a huge fan. But I think it has potential as a genre.

I'll just wait 'til someone thinks outside the box and does something cool with it. Until then, meh.

I'll take the challenge and thanks to the sample pack, should be able to crank something quick out for demonstration and experimentation purposes.

-sticks to original thread-
Well right now Trap music doesn't sound all that great because genres are like actual producers; Obviously a brand new music producer wont be able to create gold on their first try, it'll sound like crap/lazy. Time needs to pass, more experiments here and there needs to be done, and of course dedication. I've said before that trap is a bit too dark for something happy and light-heart like MLP, but since you did mention melodic....which is something I totally jump on, there's a chance this dark mood can have a optimistic mood.

In any case, jumping on this 'make some trap' train :P
Also, man I'm surprised this thread got this big. Oh the wonders of what happens when I'm at work.

I'm sorry but anytime I come by this thread and I see Trap music i just imagine an androgynous guy dressed in some chick's panties. Is there any reason why its called Trap music other than than the T is added onto rap?

Incidentally has anyone checked out Grime froom back in the day or does it need to be new to relevant? This seems like something that might be hot for a year like bassline, fidget house, future garage, uk funky, wonky, and purple sound, etc and no one is doing brony versions of those. Sorry not trying to be another person to complain in this thread but i'm just wondering what the appeal is to you and just how far you've looked into other genres that could equally appear new even if they aren't "current".

I'm debating whether I like it or not... but it seems cool. Pony trap music seems kind of odd though. Also, I didn't really notice this "explosion" you speak of.

rateyourmusic.com wrote:The term 'trap music' was coined by T.I. with his 2003 album Trap Muzik; as he describes it, the 'trap' is "basically where drugs are sold."

I'm not really sure if I get it honestly.

This is when companies were throwing alot of money at hiphop because the complete success of gangsta rap music , trap is a term referred to the ghetto and its where drug dealers lore among to sell drugs its called the trap because usually you cannot get away from the lifestyle the money is really good and it's really fast, dangerous but effective Im sorry Im so obnoxious toward trap music but when it got popular it took away lyricist's imagination and skill and replaced it with bragaodocia and rapping about scandalous sex, drugs and killing and I just miss the rap music i grew up with with when there was storytelling and mystique in the lyric's and it 's hard to find rappers that don't rap about what you hear on the radio pardon my french but it's not the most well thought out music or inspiring music to me at least.

I've got to agree. I've never payed too much attention to rap and hip-hop for exactly those reasons, however, in recent months, I've discovered a few artists that are making the genre worth-while to me.

I thought this thread is about dance electronic post-skrillex trap, which is all about deep bass drums and high-pitched synths.
