Changing the Artist Name

Postby konsolN » 22 Sep 2012 14:56

I have a Question.

I recently found out that there is a Rapper called Lil B of whom I have never heared anything about, but before.

Since then I thought about changing my artist name to something else, but I'm not sure if thats a good Idea.
I know that some people have already confused me with the Rapper (my first followers on soundcloud were 2 Rappers who I began to think that that would be strange considering that I try to make songs without lyrics).
I'm also not that well know to begin with anyway, the only song that got at least a fraction of attention was my Remix War V Remix, so I guess it wouldn't be that much of a Loss.

I just would like to know some other Peoples opinion on it :|
I make different kinds of music, often get told that It sounds like something for a Video Game because I make only instrumentals, never had a chance to make music for an actual game. I would love to.

If you want an honest opinion, the name "Lil B" isn't catchy anyway, you're better off finding another one (:

I always just thought you were THAT Lil B, and I was wondering why no one was referring to you as Based God. I'd say find another name lest you be grouped with him.

ok, I think that shows me enough that I really should change my name XD

I'll see if I find something that
a) I like
b) doesn't sound too strange to others
c) isn't overcomplicated (and memorable)
and d) not already taken

I can change your name on the forum when you've made your decision.

Otherwise here's some suggestions off the top of my head.

Frisson (known as the tingling cold chills when you see/hear something awesome)
Waffle Cannon
Quill
Traktor Beam (misspelling intentional)
Hindemith (after the early 20th century German composer)
HiveMind
Infectious
Polycarbon (what they make cars and some high-impact armors out of now)
Tungsten (the metal bio-molecule that occurs in some bacteria)
Angel Face
Sprocket
Carbine

And I'm out of ideas.

Step 1: Choose a random adverb

Step 2: Choose a random noun

Step 3: Cry yourself to sleep

But anyway, I suggest googling whatever name you are aiming at before choosing it - fortunately all I found were some biomed papers when google autoseperated the words.

Lol well its no wonder you've never heard of Lil' B, since he's most commonly known as BassGod. Not sure why but whatever. I've heard better bass from someone taking a dump.

Honestly, I don't think having an odd name is wrong, quite the opposite for me actually as I always remember the odd names over the regual ones. Just try not to make it too long and extremely hard to pronounce, see skrillex, Makkon, avicii, Jackleapp, Mord Fustang, doesn't look very ordinary too me and two of those are arguably 'joke' names. My point is; name doesn't really matter that much, find something you like and stick with it.

Sure if you want to get all famous either a story around your nickname or a complete mistery is needed for marketing purposes. :3

Tungsten (the metal bio-molecule that occurs in some bacteria)

+1, means heavy stone in Swedish.

Well look on the bright side...
...
...the cinematography is pretty good. Then again, I personally like the soft lighting camerawork style that's being used more and more lately in films. Twilight uses this style but turns down the hue usually 70%~50% to give it that dull/gray/lifeless look.
Although, "indie" music videos have been doing this for a while so it was only a matter of time before the mainstream picked it up. Guess its now time to move to something else creative and unique, which now seems like the color cross processing look. What is cross-processing? Well in short, its pretty much using the wrong type of chemicals for developing color negative film. You've seen it before, those weird and stupid want-to-be "deep" pictures with someone posing and some text in the center. Here's one:
Image

The cross-processing is pretty...well non-existant with this one, but there's a bunch out there. In any case.........wow how did I get to this? I think I'm just subconsciously blocking out anything 'Swag' related like Lil B.

I like GhostXb because its a single word, it's simple, its easy to remember, and no one else has it.
I mean NO ONE!

If you google my name, it will bring you to my soundcloud, my youtube, some random forum posts I made on other forums, my steam profile, my xfire profile, my g4tv profile, my halo service record. It's actually kind of creepy.

Also, you'll see me on last.FM, where my song from the recent Faithful and Strong album is listed, which is weird cause I don't even go to this website, I never made a profile there, and I don't know how my song got listed considering I never released it outside of the Faithful and Strong album. WTF? I have to look into this XD!

update: Ok this is weird, I'm finding my name and names of my songs pop up in places I didn't know exist...

last.fm collects all songs with appropriate id3 tagging from the internet. You do not submit into it's database, but you can claim your artist name.

There are sites that randomly generate youtube videos from people's youtube channels
