So my friend is making a My Little Pony Role Playing Game.

Nothing big and fancy but I like how much hes putting into it. I decided to make the Soundtrack for him as I'm teaching myself composition and I've always enjoyed soundtracks.

I started playing the piano a few months ago and I'm by no means a concert pianist. I've learnt enough theory to know what I consider the "basics".

Here are a few of the tracks. They are not meant to be long I was told, just something to loop.

This is the backgrouund for his Everfree Forest level. I feel i've made it too much of a March feel in attempting to recreate an adventurous mood. I had Daring Doo in mind for this but I think he removed her.

I'm not too happy with this one and want to revise it but I don't know what to do. My friend told me that its a Temple within the Buffalo Tribe. My intention was to make an Egyptian feel but it lost flavour too early.

This is a Work In Progress, an idea I had for the Ice Cave level. I thought that the tune could have a bit of tension due to the likelyhood of the cave being dangerous. I added the classic violin style because I always heard it in movies.

The Canterlot Labyrinth. When I made this I had the intention of having a relaxed, light, almost weightless piece. Then I was told that you got terrible lost, so I changed the mood.

This is a Work in Progress that I made the other night when I couldn't sleep. I was thinking of it being the credit music as it sounds very resolving, in a way.

As you can see I like to have a lot of projects. I find that if I focus too much on one, it'll just get boring. I don't do this for a job nor have I any previous experience.

I made these on the FL Studio Mobile application and I plan on getting the Producer version soon on PC.

Thanks for reading, criticism would be greatly appreciated. Good or bad, I know I'm knew to this.

Very good for the time and software used. I haven't used the mobile app for anything but messing around with samples.

1st Song:
Simple progression, good for a loop. I would bring out the strings more, they are difficult to hear.

2nd Song:
Kicks and Snares are horrendous, but I can't blame you for that - Mobile doesn't have proper orchestral percussion. Phrases are a tad confusing, but I see where you were trying to take this. Definite underlying chords can help clear up confusion, e.g. putting some strings chords at a low volume for the whole measure.

3rd Song: I love the bells, awesome sound. Everything is great until the second violin comes in- try not to have instruments on the same notes, especially when they are the same voice, it just makes things muddy. Try an octave higher?
Very good so far considering this was made on mobile.

4th:
Pretty chords! I would add some reverb to the sitar-like plucks to make it warmer.

5th:
Does sound resolving! Neato.

Overall: I can even see progress between each song, and you're doing quite well.
I'd totally shoot for buying the producer version of FL Studio, it's really worth it.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm editing the tunes in my spare time to test the changes, I might try to rework Buffalo Temple though as I can't listen to it anymore.

Also I'm planning a piece for a "Mansion" level that I assume is haunted. I'm considering a waltz as it can easily be percieved as a haunted theme in some cases. Any advice for 3/4?

What is the general consensus on lyrics in BGM?

I know that its not meant to be the main focus but I was told of a highly atmospheric level set in space. I couldn't pass up a synthpop track, like Depeche Mode or Human League.

Sadly I don't think I could keep up to their standard but I'll give it a shot. :D
