<pony><original> Rainbow Dash Goes On An Adventure

This is the first electronic song that I've ever made. It's sorta Drum & Bass, but the drum beat's really quite different for the standard, not to mention that the drums (and bass) aren't the main focus in the mix. It's more along the lines of high-tempo electronic... I think.

The kick and snare are definitely too quiet for Drum and Bass--if I wanted to, I could have sidechained the kick more and spaced out the kicks and snares to make it a more "traditional" DnB track, but that probably would have ruined the rhythm of the song, so I stuck with it. It's quite repetitive as well, although not too horribly so--I really didn't focus on composition when I made this, so that's the main reason why. I spent most of my time on synthesis and mixing. Also, the lower ends, the sub-bass especially, could be bad because of the quality of my sound outs (Skullcandy is NOT good for mixing, I'm sure).

Like I said, this is my first time making/mixing/mastering anything, so criticism is more appreciated than anything. Please, throw everything my way! I want my assumptions that this is even somewhat good to be thrown to the ground and burned as much as possible in a constructive manner. (I also want to see someone deconstruct something constructively. Might be interesting.)

Also, no free download. Sorry about that. Hope you enjoy!
I make music because I'm not mediocre at everything yet.

You have one cool drummy part, and the rest is pretty much the same for the entire track. Just the same 4 bars over and over again. So I guess it could be trance without pads, lol.

But yeah, chuck more stuff in there.

I'm late in replying to this.... Jeez, me!

The track is extremely repetitive because I was focusing on the technical side--basically, I was just trying to practice synthesis and mixing. Both of them are still pretty bad, but it was a first try, so I guess it could be worse. (Not by much, though...)

And it's good to know I can make trance by accident, because I can't come up with any ideas for it normally.
