Musician.
If we say the musician is a lifeless load of crap, there is a high precentage he won't make any more music.

Basically the above post

I kind of see being a "good musician" is more than just making good music. To me being a "good muscian" require that you also are a good person. I personally must admit find it hard to enjoy good music from a bad person.
I don't have time for fancy signatures.

I'm going to take a different approach and say the music matters more. Think the classical composers. Many of them led terrible lives, but are remembered because of their music. In modern day pop rock, it's definitely the music, as most rock musicians are into drugs or have girl problems or something. I'm stereotyping, but that's because there is a broad number of pop/rock artists that are that way. I'd love to say that personally, the musician matters more, but it's the music that defines how they will ultimately be remembered.

I'm honestly with Fimbulin on this one. I think the music is more important, besides, the musician doesn't even stand a chance to be around for very long (except through their music).

Team Music!

Potentially, almost any musician might be able to crank out something truly memorable and awesome, regardless of who they might be or their lot in life.

I think... The presentation should be another choice here. How the music is presented to you can leave a just as big (If not, BIGGER) impact on you than the music or the artist.

The music. Example: I love Ozzy Osbourne's music even though he pissed on the alamo, killed a family of cats, shot a bunch of chickens in a chicken coop, bit the head off of a bat and doves, and took infinite ammounts of drugs and alcohol. Oh, and he tried to kill his wife.

Software: I'm original, so i use Sunvox. I used to use LMMS, but the crashing drove me insane.

Wait what

Do you mean music or musician as in the quality of music or the quality of the musician's ability to make music, that's like saying what's better, acting or the actor.

If you're saying a person's behavior and attitude, definitely music. I can just hate someone's guts but I have no right to discredit his musical talent. The same way, I can love someone's attitude as a musician but the stuff he puts out might not be great.

I agree, but I still think that the music is more important than the musician.

The musician will die from syphilis (It's ALWAYS syphilis), and the music will either live on because it was worth something or die with the musician, regardless of how popular it ever was.

This is eerily similar to the "chicken & the egg" debate. Wouldn't the music not exist without the musician?
