What are the 3 hardest drops you've ever heard?

Postby XXDarkShadow79XX » 14 Aug 2012 16:14

So... durrr

What are the top 3 hardest/filthiest/most epic drops you've ever heard? It doesn't have to be top three, it's just a suggestion. Oh yeah, and dubstep and drumstep only. So no cheating and putting speedcore in here. Also, some justifications would be nice. I'll go first:

P.S. I put this in Sharing is Magic cause we're sharing tracks with each other! XD I guess you could use this page for some inspiration.

3:

GAH DAT BEAT. AND THAT BASS! It's just crazy when combined with those vocals. (Okay, that was a crummy justification)

2:

My favorite song from the fandom. Just listen to it! There's a crazy sequence of sounds at the drop that i could just listen to over and over.

1:

Yep. It's Skrillex. It also happens to be my favorite song. I don't need to explain this one. Just hit play.

So what about you guys?

EDIT: Aw, shoot I screwed up. This is in the wrong section. I'll delete it and post it in the right section. Sorry Colortwelve. :(

EDIT: GOD DANGIT YOU CAN'T DELETE POSTS! Oh well.

3.
Yeah, we all have to have some Balloon Party track, I guess  But yeah, SoL's sound design is pretty much unmatched in the fandom. He's like our Excision!

2.
Speaking of Excision... Yeah, this is easily his hardest drop. Downlink and Ajapai certainly help it out, though; I'm not sure if one man can produce so much filth single-handedly.

1.
I guess it follows that the hardest drop in my book is produced by like four people. Anything with Noisia is guaranteed to be hard, but this takes it to a different level - the buildup, the pseudo-strings playing along with the bass in the drop, and the eerie intro and interlude give it an unshakeable atmosphere that makes for an intense (to say the least) drop.

3. Factory - Downlink

This thing is pure awesomeness. Downlink easily has some of my favorite sound design.

2. The Werewolf (Dubstep Mix) - Figure

This drop kinda crosses into that 'brutal' dubstep territory. Drop is really evil sounding for dubstep.

1. Ready Set - Parametic

Dat drop! This is easily the hardest drop I've ever heard.

I kind of hate this band, mostly for their awful lyrics and obnoxious, meatheaded disposition, but this album was actually pretty decent. I can enjoy this song and most of the album as long as I don't look up the lyrics.

But anyway....

Starting at 4:41 and about 5 seconds after that...that drop is pure crushing power, and I love it. Otherwise, I don't have another two top drops...YET.

That is called a breakdown. And believe me, we could start a whole thread for deathcore breakdowns, those things can be fucking brutal.

First link isn't working, and the other two songs aren't dubstep. Remember, dubstep has that slow, 140 bpm halftime beat.

Sorry.

If you only want Dubstep (or, judging by some of the posts here, brostep) and Drumstep, you should change the title to "What are the 3 hardest brostep/drumstep drops you've ever heard?". Judging by the title, you could be going for any genre.

Anyways, for Dubstep, these two songs (Yes, these are "hard" for my standards).

Aaannnddd I'll throw in a little bit of drumstep.

Brostep is not a term in my vocabulary. I call it dubstep wether the mid frequencies are distorted or not. I consider brostep a term used to insult lazily made dubstep. Also, I thought it would be safe to assume that people would read the first post before posting.

Some people don't really read first posts, or they choose not to pay attention to it. And I'm not going to get into an argument about this, but Brostep is in fact a sub-genre of Dubstep, but the difference between the two is SO large that it just irritates me when people are calling Brostep by the name Dubstep, because so many people latch on to that name and are completely unaware that it's a sub-genre of Dubstep. Even worse, when people say "I hate Dubstep because it's random noise!", it REALLY irritates me because these people are talking about Brostep, but they have no clue that what they have heard was Brostep.

And because I like to be really specific with things like this. I refuse the call any sub-genre by the name of the genre as a whole. French House is always French House to me, I refuse to call it just "House". Liquid Drum n' Bass is always Liquid Drum n' Bass to me, and I refuse to call it just "Drum n' Bass". That also applies to other things in the real world, as well.

I was gonna post in here, but then you had to limit it to dubstep.

Go listen to Hold Your Colour, teach yourself about real drops.

Agreed. Why limit it to dubstep? It isn't in the title, so why must you assume we post dubstep tracks?

I, personally, don't listen to dubstep a whole lot. I know what good dubstep sounds like, and I will enjoy it if it's on, but when I have a preference I usually turn on something else. It's just not my cup o' tea.

There's some good Hard Electro (Some of you genre fanatics might insist it be an extremely rough Electro House, but it's always been Hard Electro for me, even if it contains alot of house elements) that I've always enjoyed for it's "drops".

I limited it to dubstep for consistency. I really didn't want genres from all over cause it would get too out of hand. Besides, dubstep is known as the "Heavy drop" genre. Look, if you're not gonna post yer songs, then don't post.

I don't usually link to this, but it seems I must. Soup, you made me do this.

Okay, so maybe im not accusing you of EVERYTHING (negative) said in this video, but I think it gets my point across. Genres and sub-genres are important, but there's a difference between a genre branching off, and a genre simply evolving. This is why I'm fine with the terms "new dubstep" and "old school dubstep". It doesn't necessarily mean that deeper dubstep is old, it just refers to dubstep before it evolved a bit. After all, if you do some research, the term "brostep" WAS originally a joke/insult.

God, this so much. My favorite of the Discord remixes.

And this was the track that got me into dubstep/brostep/whatever the fuck you wanna call it.

This is awesome. We're all going to end up posting ridiculously hard drops. This is what I wanted. XD

Also, in this dubstep vs Dnb war we seem to be getting into, I've decided to not use drumstep cuz that would be cheating.
