Applejack had a lot better and funnier part to play

Celestia's omniscience was really well solidified if you think about it. She sent Twilight to make friends because she knew twilight would find the elements of harmony to defeat nightmare moon. Let her stay in Ponyville but insisted she report on the magic of friendship. Some bronys have speculated that Discord was released because the cmc were fighting in front of him in that scene, but Celesta tells Twilight and her friends that discord was released because it was her and Luna who had trapped discord, however they were no longer the ponys connected to the elements. Celestia would have known that her and Luna loosing there connection to the elements would cause discord to be freed by the end of S1E02 at the latest. So sending back to Twilight all the letters that Twilight wrote to her over the season was Celestia's plan and not a last minute idea.

Welp, that was one amazing episode, to be sure. And that was the scariest Twilight I've ever seen. It's only a matter of time before the Big Mac + Smartypants shipping stories come in now.

And Fluttershy is quickly becoming the most badass pony of them all.
