The hugging/venting thread

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

I, on the other hand, hate EqD because of things like this. Can't we have a good brony music rss that just lists what tracks bronies make that are pony (in their eyes)?

http://ponyremixplanet.blogspot.co.uk/ was an awesome site for a bit because it

1. Had a rather nice layout
2. Posted any current track by an artist they subscribed to in an embed
3. Updated basically daily so it was always CURRENT music.

and then they stopped following that format completely. I guess he got busy or saw that he couldn't do an expanded EQD scope by himself. What he needed to do was get some help (it's not hard to post ytube embed into a post on a regular basis). While I offered to see if he wanted additional authors or to look into more staff he never responded. So a great blog that worked as an alternative but didn't quite have the readership or the staff to pull it off. It basically died before it really took off.

I struggle sometimes with BMD when our queue makes large jumps and those aren't even continual updates. People like to have one-stop shops to get their pony and EQD just does a great job with that even if they don't get everybody, the quality is high. All power to people banding together for new blogs and alternatives as long as they give them the attention they need to be successful. A new brony music blog that tries to include a lot more music is a big undertaking and it also NEEDS a readership that LIKES all the stuff that gets posted to keep returning. Just remember that the people who make music generally don't have the time to run such places even if they are beneficial to the community. Between running BMD, making my own music, doing my own pmv's, having a full time job, and having a wife and 5 year old twins I have my self spread as thin as I can go. Hell I'm a borderline masochist for being as busy as I am. :(

I'm seriously suffering through some serious Depression lately -_-
I'm not sure wether I'm bored or not, but I've been really mopy lately, and I don't know why. I've tried everything to get myself nice and happy again.
I lack the creativity to make music, which leads my brain into thinking that I'm bad at everything, I'm a bad singer, can't make music, can't play any instruments, I'm pretty much talentless. My head is playing some seriously cruel tricks on me.

Frustrating times, really.

I feel as if I have all the pieces I need to really start making some music I'd approve of, and yet they haven't snapped into place. Like, it's all at my fingertips, yet I can't put them together correctly.

I've really started working on properly integrating filters, pad/FX usage, melody creation and such, which I feel could really get me over the edge of this plateau I'm on, but I can't bring them all together and combine them correctly to get a level of quality I want.

It's quite... Irksome, this giant feeling of potential creeping up on me, and yet I'm powerless to actively ignite it. I'm, by nature, not quite patient.

I remember feeling that way. Happened a lot when I was your age (I AM SO FUCKING OLD FOR SAYING THAT), and for several years after that. It's really difficult to feel comfortable in your own skin and with your own talents.

Hearing your stuff, it sounds like you certainly have the talent, imagination, and taste to make some excellent material. Still, no matter how much support you get from other people, you have to be the one to pull yourself out of the mopey quagmire and just create all that you can, primarily to impress yourself above all others.

You've still got lots of time to learn instruments, get better at singing, and practice composition. Hell, you've gotten started a lot earlier than me, so keep up the good work and stay the course! Besides, I like to think that the most super depressed musicians/artists/writers tend to be the very best ones.
