I was (still am actually :/ ) on the search for good Studio Headphones lately, and as some of my issues, I wanted to get the perfect one, problem is, there are a lot and manufacturers and even more different models.
(I excuse my writing here, English is not my native-language, but I do my best)
So when I looked at all these Specs of the Headphones, I noticed one thing: I didn't knew the meaning of half of them, so I read myself through along FAQ on headphones by Beyerdynamic.
http://europe.beyerdynamic.com/service/ ... hones.html
It covers everything and it even have a Short Comparison between 2 similar Headphones, one for Studio use and one for easy listening. And a little Guide to choose the best Headphone for you (which is a little bit of a sum-up from the other Parts of the FAQ).
But it is worth to mention that you can't simply choose a Headphone because it has the best Stats for it's price, some are still a still better than others just because the general production is better and they don't use cheap parts in the process.
You should always listen too recommendations by others, but than again, they all have different preferences and not everyone has tested every headphone, how can they know this headphone is the best? It's just the best they had until then and who knows if they had enjoyed the others even more?
The Very Best thing you should do is... to look at the next post go to the next music store and try out multiple Headphones, there is no need to make a hypothetical buy if you can test them beforehand.
So this is my opinion on how too choose the best Headphone for you when you search online:
1a)
Search Headphones of Manufactures you trust, look at the Stats and choose the Models that you think match your preferences, than check what people say about them, if they don't have many positive feedback, than the headphone may have good stats, but it's just not well made :/
1b)
Now look at what people recommend are good headphones for you, than look at the Stats to see if this headphones stats are within or near that what you want and add them too the list.
2)
Now look at all the Models you selected, compare them and erease the ones you think aren't as good as the others by reviews and stats and try to narrow it down to about 3.
3)
Now, unless there was one that screamed "I'll be your perfect Headphone!" to you, you can only take a leap of faith and take one...
and don't say "I shouldn't have taken this one!" later, because thats just how we are , the grass is always greener on the other side XD you couldn't have known until you took the Headphone, and if you hadn't chosen you would still be looking at the 3 Models, breaking your head over what would be the best one... and you wouldn't ever get a headphone
