<non-pony><original> Dream Tonight (my first dubstep track)

Postby oddboy18 » 07 Aug 2012 01:45

Hello MLR community. I'm new here and I just want to share my work. This little piece was made the day I got Native Instrument's Massive Software. I had so much fun making this. Some parts are a bit off. but buck it . Any tips on how I can get better. Echelon gave me a pointer about the many yoys. (you rock!)

Welcome! ^.^

first of all are you kidding me? your first dubstep song? it's way to good do be your first ;P but I assume that you already made some other songs, didn't you?!

even it's already a very good song, I would replace the yoi sound. Don't get me wrong I'm no "M-talk"-hater but (for me) it feels like another sound would be a better choice ^^'
but ofcause this is just a matter of taste!
And I don't know if it's just because of my shitty headphones but your drum could be a little bit more punchy

keep on working I would love to see more tracks of you very soon ;)

Yeah, I'll go ahead and join the chorus singing that you have too many yois, but pretty much all of the other sounds in this track are pretty damn good, especially for a first outing with dubstep. I might also try adding more than just sub-bass to your drop sections, so that you can enjoy the bass cannon without needing a subwoofer. Think 'X-Rated' by Excision, or anything at all by Bassnectar.

Also, how does music. This is such a musical piece, I just... I can't

So yeah, great job here, just work on what I tell everyone else to work on - dubstep sound design, which is absurdly difficult, but very rewarding when you can get it relatively right.
Youtube -- Soundcloud -- Tumblr -- Bandcamp (new album out!)

I can't feel my brain.

noice, now use screamers instead :3

Lol. But seriously, you hab to replace some of the yoys with something else because the "M-talk" isn't what you should always use for wubs and sub-wubs (c what I did thar??? No? okay).

But everything is good except for one of the yoys you used (it's kinda down hardcaore a little but yea, that's what I can explain on that...)
