Actually, I found out that if you use retrigger on a kick you can make some awesome speedcore.

Yes. That's because retriggering is nothing but fast repeating without decay~

That's how you arrange speedcore drums in general. You don't need to use a plugin for that.

A little bit of darkstep growl is completely welcome imo.

Ok. I set the bpm to 174, and the breakcore part is only on 2 of the breaks.

Essentially, it's Neurofunk + small amounts of breakcore. Totally not a ripoff of Foozogz or Noisia.

Knife sounds are still in the mix, and I have some nice Reese and sub bass going on.

When I say breakcore, I pretty much glitched the original beat into something different. Retrigger, reverses, shuffling, and tape stops. And I pitch shifted the retriggers to make them sound glitchier.

Really? I find that it is waaayy easier to get an extra tone sound using glitch. I mean, in terms of Bpm, fl only goes up to 999 (Not sure about other DAWs) so you'd have to bounce the audio and speed it up. (Though it is a good idea to bounce it when you're using glitch too.)

If this doesn't make the album, I'm going to give Fluttershy to 4chan and let them rape her. I swear I'll do it.

Just kidding. I would never do that to Fluttershy. She's too nice.

Nah. let's say you want 1k bpm. Set bpm to 500 and time signature to 8/4. ;D

Aaaand after two attempts I don't believe I can make an effective hardcore song (idunnowatimdoing c:)
Maybe I can get MASSIVE, learn the basics and do a really short thing for the first or last song on the album? :?

I just added Wow Filter and Ohmicide to my collection of badass VSTs. I slapped some Ohmicide on my Reese bass and it sounded so nasty it was insane. And then I made the Reese bass do talking noises with Wow Filter.

The only problem I keep having is composition. I can't write songs very well. So my entry could take longer than expected.

I didn't like how my song was sounding. So I stopped working on it.

I'm just going to enter the next Toastbeard instead. If my entry for it is hardcore enough, I'll submit it for this. Don't you just love being my sloppy seconds (not literally)?

Massive is very versatile so you should get it!

But for getting good synths you should stack FX like a boss instead!

C'mon, at least let us hear it! I posted my crummy entries here, so I don't see why you shouldn't. As Dave from Boyinaband once said, (Read in a british accent) "If you worry too much about everything you release, you won't release anything." Seriously. It doesn't matter how bad you think your stuff is, there will be people out there that will like it. Just upload it here and if it's really that bad no one will have to ever see it again. ;)

All I had was drums. And I couldn't compose with the beat.

Besides, I wanted to try some complextro/house type of stuff for a change. I think I might actually be good at it. Because I'm not really good at drum and bass (I can only sorta do drums, but have no luck with synths).

I'm pretty sure I can make complextro hardcore as long as I use some heavy electro basses, high pitched whoops, and carlessly placed vowel basses (hehe, Living Tombstone). So think of it more as dubstep at 128 bpm with obscene amounts of sidechain compression and a more simplistic drum sequence. Translation: Archie V crossed with Knife Party and Excision kind of style. Then carelessly put vowel basses all over the song (what the Living Tombstone does in a lot of song), because it sounds good.

Then I'll add some more vowel basses...

I also wanted to try adding some lyrics and singing to my music from now on. I'm waiting for the next toastbeard (which will be probably be announced tomorrow). I need inspiration and a topic to write my song about, and that is pretty much what toastbeards are for.

I think that's straying a bit too far from the "hardcore" path.
