I wasn't prepared for this acapella?

Hmmm, this is a tricky one. I know someone has probably already done this, but I can't seem to be able to find it.

Oh goodness me, I believe it's far to early to ask for that.

Actually yes it is, unless you have an AAC encoded 5.1 sound file of the song you wont be getting any acapellas of this song worth using.

I usually post the accapellas asap, but I can only get them after the episode is released.

Well, apparently some people had access to HQ files released by HUB and actually used them as youtube videos in HD format. Not sure about the exact structure of the audio codec inside those mp4s, but they must be either AAC or ACC, right?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is a difference between HQ and 5.1 surround, which is what's required for the acapella tracks. From what I understand, the vocals and a few of the sound effects are panned dead center, while the rest of everything else is panned to the sides to some degree. If you solo out the center channel, then you get the the vocal track. (and a few sound effects sometimes) I believe it's something along those lines, but I could be wrong.

Basically, though, you won't get a clean rip of the vocals until the 5.1 surround version is released. If I'm not mistaken, the HQ in which you refer to is likely just a non/less compressed mp3/wav or something thereabouts. It's likely just a stereo file, thus the method used for extracting acapellas, if I didn't just make this method up, wouldn't work.

edit: I COULD just be talking out of my ass. Just an FYI, but I never really looked into how you extract the acapellas, just that it involves the 5.1 surround file and random cramming of puzzle pieces together. I could have crammed the puzzle together way wrong.

I'm not here to correct anyone on anything. In fact, I have no idea how extracting works other than a few basics that can be done in audacity. But yeah, I have no clue whatsoever on what are the prerequisites as far as audio file is concerned for this to work, so you are probably right.

This sucks, though. I really wish they'd release a proper file anytime soon.

Patience is something I lack, so I know how you feel. It's possible to just EQ out as much of the unwanted noise and stuff that you don't want as a place holder for when it IS released. Musically the song sounds pretty thin, so it could be passable for "sketch" work. It'll sound pretty bad, but it'd give you the option of starting on something right away instead of having to wait.
