Fake soundcloud followers

By all means I hate those. the last few days I've been seeing well known people in my inboxing. And of course they aren't following because they like your stuf. They just do it so you are more aware of them. And for the most part they might aswell unfollow you at once.

And when I say well known names I talk like the guys you would find around on promotion channels like EpicNetwork, Monstercat, Vital etc. (whatever you prefer)

And srsly. it just sends a sign to me of being very fame hungry. I'll admit I have followed a few people I don't really listen to but that's because I want to be nice and I don't just unfollow them at once. Some times I even actually listen to their stuff or give feedback.

But when I check my mail and see "Adventure Club started following you" and look at their profile and see they are following zero artists. It just gives me a dissapointing look. And I actually used to love those guys. In fact I still like their work but really...

Yeah I'm a little mad. But only because I used to look up to Adventure Club.

Yeah, but at least it's better than those fucking annoying comments on everyone's songs; and you get followers out of it. Also, that does suck because I respected adventure club too.

It kinda pisses me off more when you see someone who has like exponentially more followed than followers, like to the point where you know for a fact they just follow everyone in hopes that they follow back.

Like they'd have like 1000 or so followers, and 16,000 followed.
It's pretty easy to see what's going on there.

Nah I like soundcloud too. it's just some of the people on soundcloud... They just want to be famous and nothing else and it makes me sad when I see artists that I look up to being like that.

I don't think I've experienced fake soundcloud followers (yet), but I often get a steady flow of rap artists on Reverbnation becoming "fans" of my work and sending me messages like "HEY GOOD STUFF CHECK US OUT RETURN THE FAVOR BY FANNING US"

It strikes me as highly condescending, like they did me a favor by arbitrarily clicking a button and sending a hollow, hyped up form letter with poor grammar and punctuation. When I follow or become a fan of something, I actually take the time to listen to the artists' work, and I hold others to that standard.

I guess these brazen people think that blanket advertising will net more "fans" to win them fame, money, clout with live shows, etc. For all I know, maybe it works for some, but I just couldn't live with myself knowing that people are being spammed with things on my behalf, and that I'm being misappropriated as some annoying promotional robot possessed of an artificial alacrity.

I'd imagine most spam followers on soundcloud are either handled by bots or bad managers.
It's kinda hard to focus on following and unfollowing 10,000 people when you're busy making music

well the i like your track check out mine comments when its obviously not even a brony gets real old although i dont see them as much as i used to. if i get them i mute them and never see them again.

honestly the Contact Notifications from youtube annoy the most and that's just when some bot grabs your email address and adds it to their gmail. it's never a brony and i have no idea why youtube includes that feature. i like KNOWING who subs, who favorites, who downloads and that's ultimately what i like about soundcloud over youtube. And of course eqbeats gives virtually NO feedback despite having otherwise great hosting and youtube import options....

Thing is, one may get that worthless followers # to go higher, but that's all they're getting. It seems like people like that attract each other, and in the end, all they really are getting is a larger number written on the hard-drive of the sound cloud server. It's really silly. Might as well just type a big number in a TXT file and save it to your desktop titled "My Follower Count", and then open it whenever you are feeling fame famished.

Don't get me wrong the opposite is just as bad. It personally bothers me when i see big name bronies with only 10 people they are subbed to. I don't think subs should represent only friends and they are a nice validation to people who've made at least a few great songs that you've heard. Subbing only people who are as or more popular then you is just as annoying trend i think.

This is so relevant. Today I got an email saying I had a follower, who would be my first one, so I was kinda excited. Then I realized I don't have any public tracks that are actual songs. So I looked at this guy's profile and he's not a brony, he actually had more followers than following, but I was still a bit irked that this guy was basically advertising himself by following me. I only follow people whose songs I enjoy.

And on the subject of youtube subs, my personal system is to sub an artist only after going through their entire channel and listening to existing music, so when I sub i'll be completely up on all their stuff. It's hard though, because I haven't been able to do that for a lot of my favorite artists who have tons of videos. However, it makes it easy to sub some of the lesser known musicians who have maybe 10 songs.
