Questions:
Okay, I've tried to make dubstep here and there. Honestly, I've never gotten too serious with it. So, in your bassdrops, how many bass synths did you use? Is there a lot of automation used? How long did this take to make?
All in all, it's a great song. I don't know why anypony would hate on it.
All in all there are around 20 or so sounds used. That is not counting the subs, if you count those, double that number. I didn't use much automation on the actual bass sounds, I make them modulate within the synth using the performer, which I found to be a lot more flexible and good for brainstorming rhythm ideas rather than manually noting everything out. If I wanted something super complex I could have used automation but I never ran into that issue here. One important note is that every sub I used alongside the bass isn't static, I modulated it in the same way the bass sound itself modulates, through a filter, so that it actually pumps in a similar way to how sidechaining works, which creates a lot more dynamic quality to the bass sound.
It took around 10 hours total to complete, I'd say. Not in one sitting mind you!
