<Pony><Original/Re-imagining> Dear Cadence (Hard Rock Mix)

Postby CaineTheDoomBringer » 10 Jul 2012 20:31

I want some input on this song. This is the first time I've done hard rock on FL studio; beforehand I would just record onto my 4-track, which is a lost cause as far as audio quality is concerned.

I recorded it a couple weeks ago, and got some mixed response on YT, hoping to get some constructive criticism on this version, as I would like to do more heavy stuff in the future.

Also, this is a re-imagining of this song, which was one of the first brony songs I ever wrote:

Any input would be much appreciated. Cheers! ^^
It ain't Brony Music without a blaring and intrusive airhorn sample.

You may need to look into mixing tutorials. Most glaring problem I can hear is the very, very muddy mix you have there. You might also want to accentuate the high ends as well. Vocals sound wwwwayyyy too out of place. Try to ease them into the song.

I'm gonna assume that you programmed the drums in yourself. Vary your drum-fills a bit. Don't always reach for the constant BRUTTATATATA of 32nd notes. A floor tom here and there would be nice with the snare.

From what I can hear, vocals and guitars are the strongest aspects of the song. Consider a call-and-answer duet for the guitar, that would add to some empty parts of the song.

But yeah, otherwise, decent work there.
