Removing background music from a song

Postby DannyMirage » 30 Jun 2012 14:34

Hey, I want to remix "Flood" by Jars of Clay, but I've never removed the music to leave just the vocals before. I realize that It won't sound perfect but is there any way to lower the Levels of the BGM? I've already tried looking for an acapella version (or studio recording, whatever you call it).
I also have no Idea what the original BPM is. Should I just try to sing it? D:

Figured out the BPM it's funky though.

check out youtube if guess if you wanna try it as their maybe hints there. tbh most remixing of a professional track is done via instrumentals and accapellas and i just don't know how possible it really is with a track that doesn't have that option.

Yeah, I tried a low pass and high pass filter, that seems like it's as close as I'm going to get. I really wish the song had an acapella though... The vocals are what I really like in the song. Paramore's the only rock band that I know of whose studio recordings constantly get leaked.

Try Kn0ckout. It's a free plugin meant for extracting vocals. You'll only get the center, and you'll have to fiddle with it to eliminate bleed, but it's the best you can do, short of getting that fancy stuff PPS and X-Trav use.
