My teaser thing, I know it's not good and I'm not going to make it in, but it's good to say I tried, right? :D

sounds pretty basic, i think those people who like dubstep (NOT ME) will want something more diverse, layered, and detailed.

Yeah, that's what I thought myself, I've always had trouble with making my songs sound more detailed. Thanks for the criticism, I appreciate it. :D

If I can make a car for this before it even comes out, could I use that car as album art on my youtube video?

Guys, have some faith in yourselves. it's not pleasant seeing a lot of people saying "I probably won't make it" or "it's not that great".

Well, it's better than having a bunch of egotistical "assertive" people here. I do agree though, that some people should probably have some more confidence. Even me. XP

We shouldn't blame people for having little too small confidence about their music, they've got reasons. In event like this one, they're even less confident than usual, just because of a high rank of a project. If we're talking about sorting people, there will always be a source of some kind of fear to participating amatures.
And even if it's still very amateurish affair, they're taking it very serious.

And let me say this just to break this non-confident routine: hold one slot open for Flutter Rex. He will make it surely. :3

I have confidence that my submission was good, and hard enough to be on the album; but I know, as always, there's a chance I may not make it because some submissions may be better than mine. Not everyone gets on the album, even if they think they should or if they deserve it.

In the end, it's all up to the judges, so just pray that they're lenient and have the same taste as you.

I'm not going to be done by the deadline, as I'm leaving for a trip tomorrow.
I not too disappointed though, I learnt a ton from this, and had a ton of fun working on my track. I also figured out that dubstep is definitely not my genre.

Best of luck to everyone one else who's submitting a track, I hope to see you on the final release.

the slower wubs and overall airy sounds remind me of more old-school dubstep. not the crazy brostep that everyone thinks dubstep is these days. pretty cool.

I should hope that their style taste/preference plays little or no part in judgement. I make psytrance because I love it, but also to expose more bronys to it. Most of whom have never even heard of psytrance. I'm trusting them to look past the fact that it's "weird" (for lack of a better word), and judge based on intensity and production quality.

Surprised? You did some good stuff, surely a way better than the original. I'm going to make something unofficial just for myself, but in parallel universe, where my skills aren't good enough, I totally used this art.

Alright, so I would definitely like to at least "try" this time around to submit something. I'm not really at the stage where I want to show off the whole production of the song I'm working on, so I was going to share a dropbox link here with a fairly long sample to give the gist of what I'm doing. I'm also going to share this in music where I'm supposed to share it anyway.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32026211/OON%20Preview%201.mp3

I would LOVE (see those caps? That means I'm serious for realsies right now) to receive some feedback. I guess my biggest concern is, I don't know if this matches the compelation's expectations, and I'm also wondering if the kicks have enough presence, or if they're pushing down the rest of the track too much, or what have you. And anything else anybody would like to say on the track would be great to hear. I'll be very thankful for it.

Also, really diggin' Sonic Breakbeat's track. Great work dude.

To be honest, I thought everypony skipped over mine, but I don't care too much xD

And technically, everypony used my artwork in a parallel universe! :D

Great to hear, man! Glad you like it :D

Anyway, I think the kick is fine, but the snare seems pretty quiet. Another thing is that there appears to be little sound between your sub bass and your wobble's frequencies - in some parts. It seems somewhat unbalanced to me, like the volume is fading in and out. The higher frequencies in the drop seem a little too present, too.

However, I can hear the melody and it sounds pretty nice. Are you using a side-chain compression of any sort? Because it seems like your instruments are cutting out a lot of the percussion, when usually it's the percussion that cuts out the instruments.

I hope that helps, and I hope you get it finished in time cause I'd like to hear it when it's finished :)

Yeah, you're right. Originally on those high notes, that's what I was going for. I didn't want to fill the whole frequency across the board because I wanted to create this juxtaposition of low into high and back into low (you should have heard the high notes before I even had a sub cushioning it. That sure was a bright idea.) But if you think that the gap is too unpleasant, then I'll definitely take a look at it and see if there's something I can...do to fix it. Sorry I just saw a that's what she said joke coming so I had to swerve right.

I took care of the snare. It was an easy fix and I should have already thought to do that. Bad decision on my part. And yeah, I do sidechain, using the peak controller in FL. Its actually pushing the instruments down pretty hard whenever my kick/snare sound off, but if I set it to compress any more, then the instruments start to take a hit to the quality scale. But I pumped up that snare and increased the hats a bit too (I usually don't worry too much about hats in drum/dubstep, but I do like having them. Girlstep doesn't even like using them.)

It was very helpful, thank you. The song is pretty much all fleshed out, and now I'm working on both those changes that people are suggesting and the problems I am finding as I listen to the track over and over and over again.
