How you deal with the haters

I deal with the show by not telling people in my community about being brony. :3 there's not much tolerance here.

I may get a Pon-3 t-shirt and wear that on my days off and then go from there but otherwise I'm kind of a closet brony in my personal life although I'm pretty open with my family about my love of it. Not that I'm embarassed but more that it's just kind of something I'd have to endlessly explain with co-workers or friends who likely wouldn't get it or look at it as a weird thing. I've openly admitted it on a music forum I used to frequent often (including the fact that I make the music) and I've found that non-bronies kind of distance themselves a bit more sadly, which makes my visits there less and less of my routine. I used to make music with a lot of these people (showing each other our music) and once I got into brony music that completely dried up.

If they ask why you like it, just tell them. If they're calling you gay or stupid, just say "Well I don't watch the show to try and become smarter or manlier, I simply watch it because it happens to entertain me." And is they keep calling you gay, just say "Well, I'm not actually gay, but if I was, there's nothing wrong with being gay."

But that's probably not how an argument with a hater would go, 100% of the time. I just like to make up imaginary situations in my head so that if something like that ever happens, I can use it and totally own the hater in an argument of words. >.>

Troll them harder, try and force ponies unto them, agree with them to get em real confused, or ignore them. Sometimes a combination.

Don't make a big deal about it. If you have merit to your character, and people know you, they may be initially confused. Eventually they come to terms or actually give the show a shot.

I always win at counter-trolling, but then again, it's relatively easy to do once I make trolls realize that my job automatically makes me cooler than them.

I don't deal with it often. My mom thinks it's weird, but she doesn't really care, and my dad doesn't watch it, but he's stoked on the whole brony thing, he thinks it's cool. The closest I get to haters in every day life is my best friend, who constantly gives me a hard time for watching it, to which I respond with indifference. He's admitted that he'd probably sit down and watch the show if I put it on, but he's not really a brony.

As far as the internet is concerned, I just ignore haters. You can't really do anything about it, really. Telling them to stop is going to make them want to hate harder, and trying to convince them to watch the show is a lost cause (If they're going to cave and watch the show, they'll do it on their own terms). So I ignore them, let them have their unjustified hate for a children's television show, and continue on my merry little way.

This. A Million times this. All you're doing by counter-trolling is proving to the haters that you're upset/negatively affected by their comment, and that's pretty much a win for them right there. That and it just creates unnecessary drama, which re-enforces negative stereotypes about bronies. :I

Then I block them, and let the rage build as they see my comment become a victory comment when others assume I told them off.

Had a couple make new usernames to come back and complain about me blocking them. I delete their comments and block their new account. LULZ

It's true AND it helps me in resisting the urge to just lash out at them.
