New concept: Ambient death metal with only vocals and lots of reverb/delay/other effects to make it creepy. No lyrics, just growling, screaming, and pig squealing. It will sound like hell (that is fucking brutal).

MYCUTIEMARKISAGUN wrote:the phrase "After Party" traditionally refers to a quieter, more cozy affair where everyone can kick back and relax and hopefully get laid lol

But yeah, when I heard "After Party", I was like "Oh cool, a balloon party follow up album that isn't quite as HARD as Balloon Party was *supposed* to be".
it's not

However, this after party could have two parts, A-Side and B-Side, if you will. After Party A-Side would be all about HARD HARD HARD while B-Side would be the kinda-hard yet still laid back, more like club music that you can relax to (if that makes sense)

So from what I can see, this could easily go both ways at this point, HARD HARD HARD and comfortably chill-yet-lively

It's not a laid back affair, re-read the OP

Aviators wrote:Balloon Party may be out, the artists have been chosen, but that doesn't mean the party ends here. There are MANY entries that didn't make the cut, and many entries that weren't finished in time.

So, what is The After Party Mix?
It's a continuation of the spirit of Balloon Party, a group of brony musicians on a quest to create the hardest, grittiest, darkest, heaviest, biggest, and DEADLIEST music possible. This isn't an album of rejects, however; it's a second chance and a brand new opportunity.

How hard, exactly?
Hard. Just... Dangit, ROCK YOUR FACE OFF HARD!

Do all submissions make it on to the album?
Nope. Even though this is a second chance for tracks that didn't make it, we want to have some kind of quality control.

a chance to improve any rejects and to get any late entries but HARD. It's not a chilled affair and hopefully people won't change the direction midway unless the organizers feel the need (and communicate it out).

Oh, I read the OP, but the title "After Party" can be misleading to anyone who didn't bother to read the OP, or is casually scrolling through the forums and glances at the thread title without opening said thread

I'm making hardstyle and nopony can stop me! I love this idea, I only found out it didn't have to be dubstep for Balloon Party about an hour before the due date, otherwise I would've made a song. Are collabs allowed and would anyone like to collaborate with me?

If you need a guitarist or want to make a dubstep/progressive metal fusion genre, then yes.

A chance for redemption? HELL YES. Also, I think it'd be a good idea for the money to go to the same thing as the Faithful and Strong album, where you donate here and get the album for free. http://www.betterplace.org/en/groups/seeds-of-kindness

Also, where would we actually submit entries? SoundCloud, E-mail, what?

After many seconds of careful thought, I have determined that my track did not make it due to either A) An excess of Pony Samples, which was the point of the song all along, or B) What is perceived to be bad mixing. The mixing is in-your-face on purpose, and the excess of Pony Samples is part of the premise of the song... speaking in WUBZ.
So as long as there are no ridiculous rules as to over-ponification, and no laws against thick mixes, I will gladly participate. =3

Hmmm... my possible submission meets a few of the requirements: it's definitely dark, heavy, big and... has deadly levels of sub bass.

Do I stand a chance? :P

Eh... Yeah, I'll make a track. I've been into the hard stuff lately for my game so why not give it a go?

What's the worst they can say, "no"?

i'm gonna try to figure out how to do the calmest hardest liquid dnb for the After Party. i'm just trying to figure out how that might work...

but anyways, question: if your song DID make the cut for the original Balloon Party, can you enter AGAIN, for the After Party? i wanna show people that i have a calm side, too (but again, i'm trying to think about how i would do that with a hard style, lul).

You can in fact enter again if you were a part of Balloon Party, as is the case with me, Silva Hound, and Michael A. You can't submit the same song, of course, but you're free to submit a new entry!

I'm liking this idea! I was working on something for BP but then realized that I wouldn't finish in time (probably wouldn't have made the cut either).

I was working on a cover/remix though. Are we allowed to submit covers/remixes?

I just pictured Dethklok covering "Sea Ponies" and it was glorious.

I was originally thinking of taking a more progressive approach to it, but Dethklok always comes to mind for this.

Sea Ponies will be metal! Maybe I will do pony-Cthulhu, but that will be for another album (meaning I have no inspiration at the moment).
