All the time. Although, it's part "wow I've come far" and part "what the fuck was I even doing".

Not at all, partially because I've made little progress and partially because I haven't even been at this for half a year yet

But I do dream of the day when I can sit down and act like deadmau5, listening to six-to-seven-year-old songs and wondering what the hell I was thinking.

I've only been making music for maybe 3 months and I can relate, yeah. I'm still amazed at how far I've come, honestly.

... not implying I'm actually good now.

I have only been making music for 4 months (Unless you count the month I spent getting used to FLS before even making an actual song. And the years before that I played piano, guitar, and various instruments. But I usually lost interest in those instruments fairly fast because I learned way too quickly)

So yeah, holy shit. Um, I'm surprised with how much progress I've made, yes, but honestly? My first song was actually quite good (although it has got NOTHING against some of my newer stuff)

Oh jeez, only always. I've had Ableton for... wow, three years now, I think, but I've only actually started writing full songs and learning to produce things properly in about the last year. This means I have over two years' worth of Ableton projects from a dark, dark time when I was still creating, but was utterly directionless, and only used default guitar synths [shudder]. I sift through these projects regularly and have a good laugh. On a few occasions, I've actually managed to salvage some good ideas from them.

Over the last year, I've learned just about everything I now know at an exponential rate, and I'm still learning. I go back to songs I've released earlier this year and, even though I still like them, can't help but see ways to make this or that sound better. (I'm actually a little worried this kind of negative perfectionism will prevent me from ever finishing my album...)
