Pony Metal Album Collabortion Project (Working Thread)

Hey you guys, I don't mean to rustle any jimmies in case there's no free room left on the project, but does anypony need a keyboard solo or two? Or a lyricist?

Unfortunately, keyboard is the only instrument I know how to play, so I can't really help out a great deal with the songwriting phase. However, I've been writing basic progressive metal tracks in just MIDI for a while now. I want to help out in any way I can - if there's a spot that needs a few "meedly-mees" courtesy of my current ability in keyboard soloing, I'll be glad to contribute.

I'm sorry. We really are running out of space. However, if you want to lurk around, advertise, or shred like Ruddess on track 7, that can be arranged. Sorry, but we have a shitload of musicians as is.

It'd be nice to get someone who actually knows he can do synth solos. I mean, I'll inevitably have to figure it out for this project, but I'd at least keep him in consideration for that one track.

I'm going to try to get Skype so that everyone working on this will have a chance to write something. Until then, this thread is the best option.

MrGeorgeFTW already began recording drums for the grindcore track (Ten Seconds Flat). We could probably finish that one this weekend, so I think that it would be best to finish it before moving to the Rarity track.

just wondering, how are we going to do tracks in this? are we going to have someone submit a song idea and then we all collab on it, or is there something prince wants us to cover?

Damn, I'm too nice. I said yes. This is now over capacity for vocalists. No more singers/screamers/etc., we have about 7. 7 vocalists is way too many (unless we make this a metalized version of Glee; NOOOOOOO!!!).

Yes. As much as it'll suck for everyone who's gotten excited about this, I think 2 would be a maximum before everything gets way too confusing and difficult to work with. So yeah, I like the idea of auditioning everyone so we (read: You) can cut down the list and end up with the best possible choices.

Vocal Auditions from 5/24 - 6/10. Send a short audio clip to give us an idea of how you sing/scream/other. The amount of vocalists here is too damn high. Everyone working on this can judge vocals. We're only keeping two until we get to work on track 7.

Yes. Lots of shredding will be needed. I'm going to focus on guitars, but I wanted to do some extreme metal vocals on the heavier stuff (anything technical death metal must have Cattle Decapitation style vocals!).

Alright guys.

George and I have been discussing how grossly overstaffed this project has become, and have decided to cut the crew down to a manageable size. Sorry to everyone Chromatic has said yes to, but with every new offer, this is becoming more of a logistical nightmare.

To that end, we've decided to narrow down our list of guitarists to two or three, and our clean vocalists to one or two. George himself is our harsh vocalist, so sorry to all the screamers and growlers who wanted in on this project.

We've already made a few considerations. For guitarists, we really only have one slot open beyond Chromatic and Kyoga, and if Pinkie Guy is free, we're going to get him in on this and have him do clean vocals as well. If need be, we'll make do with two guitarists, because we're not Iron Maiden and probably don't need three. Whitetail is our bassist. George is on drums, Kyoga and I are on electronics. We will need an additional, full-time lyricist. Again, sorry to everyone who got excited about contributing to this project, but it's grown way beyond manageable size.

We've also decided that it'll be necessary to go through the prospective tracklist to clean up and refine the ideas we have, so that the project is also doable on a technical level. Sorry, Chromatic, but there will be no one-minute drum solos. We're not a virtuosic prog-metal band, just a group of musicians who've happened to get on board with a common vision, vague though it may be. George's aim is to make this vision more specific, and thus much less of a bitch to accomplish.

George is also planning on setting up an actual group chat on Skype, so that everyone can work on ironing out what's left to work on in a more efficient manner. Chromatic, time to get a Skype.

Now let's buckle down, get our shit together, and get ready to make this happen!
