Is anyone following Eurovision?

If you're not from Europe, be glad that your country isn't participating in this crapfest of a contest. As much as I dislike it, it's probably the biggest musical contest in the world. So it's hard to ignore it.

Every song in this contest (over 40) is on this playlist. But be warned. Some of these songs will make you want to gouge your eyes out just so you can stuff them in your ears.

If anyone thinks they can make mock-remixes of these songs, please do. That can't possibly end up any other way but funny as hell.

Epic Sax Guy and "OPA!" are the only things I know about Eurovision.

Plus some trivia and whatnot about Eurovision 2010.

My dad told me that Jónsi did the entry for Iceland. I was very dissapointed to find out that is was not Jón Birgisson.

I AM STOKED FOR THE FINALS THOUGH. GONNA COOK SOME FOOD, DRINK CHAMPAGNE AND WEAR GLITTERY CLOTHING. ALL IN HONOUR OF EUROVISION!!!

You were disappointed?

Sigur Rós is one of those few bands from Iceland worth listening to. Eurovision is simply way below their standards.

I don't believe in standards! I would find it quite amusing and good if they made it to the eurovision finals, simply because I like them and eurovision isn't that bad really! Sure it's corny, but I like that in a way! Like, once in a year-way!

With my native country being Russia, I am very familiar with Eurovision, and the popularity of crap music. Every time I go back, I despise turning on the radio. Last time in Rostov(2 years ago), the big hit was Russian Rap *hork*. 4 years ago, they had a very popular radio-rock band. Now it's just generic pop, I guess.

This is a country which housed Soviet/Art Rock, one of the great lost genres.

I'm going over there in a month, with my laptop, my guitar, and my mic. I'm setting things straight. But I'll have to make instrumental tracks, as my Russian has gotten quite rusty over the years. It's happening, and it's gonna be sexy. Yeeeeah.

Eurovision is really stupid, it used to be enjoyable but I haven't enjoyed the winning songs in the last couple of years, especially the German (she just can't sing live) and the Russian one. I haven't even checked the entries out, I don't know who represents my country but it might as well be a hobo for all I care now ^^

Edit: I just checked it, he isn't a hobo, he's a fantastic singer, oh god, why do they do this to themselves..

I quite enjoyed him in eurovision 2004 but back then the songs were amazing, nowdays...good singers and bands just go there to lessen their image..it's just a proving ground for unknown musicians..makes me wonder what inspired Lordi to enter.

I remember back in 2006 when Iceland sent a troll entry. It was glorious, even though it didn't make it into the finals.

I remember laughing so hard at this I nearly puked.

Yeah I loved it when the Lordi won.

I liked 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 (but the winning song was bullshit, there were WAY better ones), 2009 , 2010 was totall bullshit and 2011 was attrotious as well.

2012 has a generic enseble of cheese lined up, except a few..I actually like the entry of my country, but of course that doesn't matter since it's all bloc voting anyway..but at least I'm glad he'll sing in his own language..

I enjoy it the most when participants sing in their own language, it means they aren't ashamed of their culture and don't translate the meangingful lyrics to cheesy English rhymes.

I'm glad that Croatia and Bosnia have done the same this year, that's really cool ^^ I'll be able to understand 3 non-English songs now.

But like I said, it's just a prooving ground for fresh musicians trying to get big...makes me wonder what Zeljko is doing there, running 2nd in 2004's Eurovision..I guess money is a big motive.

Andante, it's not cool if you promote your country ^^

Sweden's tune is a bit different, I quite like it, athough the chord progression and the plucks are extremely old :)
